The 290 was my first experience with Collings. I've owned several 290's since. Single cuts, Double cuts, 1 pickup, 2 pickups. I sold my first one.....to Christopher, then bought it back...... I sold it again a year or so ago. I've thinned the herd over the last year, and found myself with no P90 guitar. I have a few guitars on consignment at The Music Emporium near Boston. ( Great guitar store and awesome guys to deal with! ) So I had one that had been there a while and this one caught my attention. We worked up a sweet deal and this one is on the way.....looking forward to getting back into one of these....@mnicholson2003 ....Some car salesman talk....lol themusicemporium.com/new-arrivals/collings-290-tobacco-sunburst-aged-finish-w-throbak-52-54-p90s

You may need to pair it with a new Z amp!

You may need to pair it with a new Z amp! Absolutely!! Z Wreck Jr will be a great paring with this guitar, I'm guessing. I have a hunch it will sound great through the little JETTA as well!

Had one just like it and traded it a few years back. Great guitar, just wasn't going out on gigs with me. Maybe I'll pick up another one at some point.

Love the wrap tail. That's what makes that style of guitar great. MO of course

What P90's do those come with?

What P90's do those come with? They come with a special version of the Lollar P90's. You could also order the guitar with Throbak P90's.

The guitar was delivered to the UPS store at 12:36....I picked it up at 12:45 in my work truck after lunch near by..... Then had to work till 7pm with it riding around with me. Talking about torture! I got home and had to attend to my sick and nearing the end kitty kitty. So I opened the box and played the beauty about 15 minutes around 9pm.
It's a keeper for sure! All the 290's have had and played have been great, but this one has something a little extra. Maybe the pickups? Maybe the aged lacquer finish? Maybe the neck binding? (This is a new feature as of a year or two ago ). More and photo's later.. Of to work! ( I have several days off starting tomorrow! )
Oh,......It sounded fabulous through the JETTA!!

Quite the NGD experience! Mine special shows to arrive today. It's 15° out. So I'll be looking at the box, and then he closed case for most of the day!
Once you get some time on it I'm curious your thoughts on the difference between the throbaks and any other P90's you've tried. I had Lollars in my Heritage and thought they were pretty good. I have a Duncan dogear antiquity in my DC and it's a rock and roller.

Another thing is this guitar just sings acoustically. Love the adjustable stop tailpiece.

What a phenomenal guitar. I’ve been on the hunt for a solid dual p90 guitar but it would have to be at the expense of my protocaster tele (which I love dearly). Still wouldn’t get me to a 290. Enjoy in good health, and play the snot out of it!

More raw and aggressive then the Lollars.

Congratulations Mark! I love Collings 290. I had one (single cut, white, wraparound) and I loved it. I had really hard times deciding to let it go while keeping my I-35LC. The idea was to take the time to choose between these tw. I stuck to the plan... but it took me more than a year to make me decision! Love these guitars. Enjoy!
