Watched the AMA on the Nova. Lately, I’ve been really digging into the demos on the Z lineup since I’m looking to pull the trigger on another amp. The Nova has been on on my radar since it’s release last year. So, the “2nd channel” on the Nova is basically like a built in OD pedal, and the amount of “drive” is controlled by the overdrive knob on the amp? So, to be clear, the “2nd channel” on the Nova is NOT an EQ boost, right? Just trying to make sure I’ve got my information right. Thanks!

Hello, Its not really a 2nd channel at all. Its a 2nd layer. You have the amp playing with the main volume and when you engage the drive via foot switch the mail volume tone is still there, you are adding the overdrive on top of the clean. What is cool is that you can blend these together and get a lot of different sounds. For example, I like to have my overdrive with a lot of articulation, I can get this by blending the clean and drive together. Since the drive has its own volume you can bring up that volume so that it acts like a lead boost too but it is not using separate tone controls, its all the same controls as the primary volume. hope this helps, God bless Todd

So let me get this straight...turn on the amp, use the “master” to dial in a clean tone. Step on the pedal, turn up the “overdrive” for the amount of gain I want, and then use the “volume” knob to determine how much louder I want that “channel” to be?

I don’t own this amp but I found the video by Lance Keltner to be helpful by way of demonstration. It’s what everybody tried to get their two channel amp to do well but struggled with. It’s that ability to have that clean tone still present with the overdrive that makes it so different. Great design for sure.

It is brilliant.

I am looking for my next amp and i'm going to get a Z for sure. This is one of those amps that caught me by surprise and I can't wait to get my hands on one. The wattage is right, the look is right and the the tone is right. For those who have played it how is the bottom end. The only real thing I do not like, is when I have to just turn the bass on Zero. Either because it turns the amp into a mushy mess or gets super wooly. Lances Video's always sound good so its hard to tell when he plays and amp. LOL

I've been looking to get another Z to match with my Z Wreck. The Nova combo has been high on the list. The bass seems to come on strong after about 1/3 of the way on the dial, but is not woofy or overly boomy. If you play humbuckers, I wouldn't see the need to get the bass over 1/4 of the way. Single coils can probably push it to almost half way.

Bass and treble are very strong tone shapers on the Nova. There's a lot of interaction with Volume and OD (volume) as well. One of many Zs that cry out "close your eyes and use your ears" to set up.

It's got a ton of different flavors of tone, and it's hard to get a bad one too.
