A baby UA OX just appeared at the door. I've done a ton of research on this thing and feel like I only have a sophomoric understanding. Wondering if anyone cares to share their experience or nuggets of knowledge to direct a nube like me.

That's very nice! When I got mine, I started messing with it and trying to recreate what I already had. At some point, the light bulb went off that the UA engineers might know more than me which led me to start dialing through their presets. I'm not into effects, so I would dial up a preset and then remove the delay, reverb, and/or compressor. I found they did a nice job balancing mics and EQ'ing across them.
For me, the magic is in the room mics. I'm typically up around 5 or 6 with them. Also, if your amp is 50 watts or less, don't forget to change the power parameter on the presets. That definitely makes a difference.
So, crank it on up! If you've got headphones on, you're not going to be disturbing anyone and you'll be basking in glorious cranked tone!

Thank YOU GuitarZ. I saw your post on the "Marshall all the way up" thread and hoped you might chime in with sage advice. I've briefly worked my 100W amp through the OX and it certainly is giving up the goods as I'd hoped. I'm headed to the Z next to see how it behaves with a 30W amp. I've only used the attenuator thus far but am really happy with the results. Time to pull out the headphones.
