All, I'm sure this has been asked before. But.....
I got my Monza (1x10) out the other day and decided to it through a Celestion Gold (currently in my Cure) and I really like the results. I guess I like those upper mids and feel of the Gold compared to the Red Fang in the Monza, especially when I turn the guitar down to clead up the signal.
What are your thoughts for those who have both the 12" and the 10" Gold? Thanks.

I had a 10 inch gold in my z-28 1x10 for a few years and I loved it. Have never tried a 12 inch gold, but compared to other 12s, 10s just don’t sound as big or move as much air. My two cents. I loved that gold tho.

I have both & to my ear, YES the 12" is a step up in every way. it's simply moving more air , so bigger , rounder than 10 -- I only use the 10" in my low watt m12 for grab & go purposes

Between the two, short answer: 12” Gold. Another forum member on here and myself run the 2x10 Z cabs with a 10” Gold and 10” Z speaker. That’s a better/tougher comparison to me. Ultimately I let the 12” Gold go in a trade but will eventually pick up another Z 12” cab but most likely try the Z12 speaker in it with the Z Lux.

I don't have a 12" gold, but here's my 2 cents:
I have two Z cabinets. One is a 2x10 with a Celestion gold (10") and Z-10. The other has one 12" Celestion Cream Alnico.
I've been comparing the two cabinets being pushed by my EZG-50 or Galaxie. I can't tell which I like better. They're both great sounding. The 12" does push more air and has a nice punch to it. But the 10's sound really good and have a nice punch also.
I don't think you can go wrong either way. It's just a preference thing. Though if I was just running one speaker, I'd likely go with the 12" over the 10".

I've had both. Celestion did a great job getting the spirit of the 12 into the 10. Of course it's not going to sound exactly like the 12. It will have those 10" characteristics...less bass, more mids. But overall, it's very nice.

I tried my 1x10 Monza through a 1x12 UK Greenback and a 2x12 UK Greenback cab today, and it sounds great with both. I've got a Gold 10" and a couple of 12" so I'll have to try those out tomorrow if I've got time. In the end, I found that I could get the 10" RedFang sounding fairly close to a 12" Greenback by adjusting the Drive, Vol. and Tone controls on the Monza. Close enough for me to leave it as is. That might change tomorrow :-)
