Converted my Stingray Combo to a 1x12 cab and put my Ray into a head cab. Had a buddy make me a valance.. He stained it black and then clear-coated & sanded/polished it. Turned out much nicer than I ever expected it would! Before:After: Got a little impatient on the paint on the back panel

Hey Telejas! Looks great! Looks like you got a new faceplate! How did you get the old one off, and did it damage the old faceplate?
I converted my Wreck to a combo and the faceplate is kinda upside down (not really if you compare it to old tweed Fenders!). I was thinking of remedying this, but not sure how difficult it’d be. What did the new faceplate cost you, if you don’t mind me asking?

Haha this is exactly what I want to do to mine! I ordered the head can and plates from Z today! I've seen a few folks reference buying replacement combo cabinets and head cabs direct from Z recently. I didn't think that the doc sold those...has that changed? If so, I may be interested in a combo cab for my Maz and a head shell for my Mini Z. If they can be had direct, how does one procure, just emailing the shop? I have checked the site and see no info. Thank in advance for any insight!

What did the new faceplate cost you, if you don’t mind me asking? jj So.... It was originally a combo when I got it a few years ago.....I converted it to a head and ran it upside down for a while, then reached out to Dr. Z and he had a spare "Stingray" faceplate for a head. I then reverted it back to a combo.....Then back to a head earlier this year. I remember it cost something, but I don't remember how much? I actually had the cabinet re-done with a different grill as well, because I didn't like the Wreck grill (it rattled). I got that all done at the same time, so I don't recall the actual cost? A lot of his newer amps, have a double sided faceplate where you can flip it over for the opposite orientation. On my Maz 18, I had to flip the Hi and Lo inputs around too. On the Stingray, I had to un-solder the pilot light and re-solder it. I believe all the newer ones, are "Fender" style and you can unscrew them (the gem) to un-mount them/re-mount.

Reviving the thread because I’m considering something similar. Looking to put my Maz in a studio 112, but would like to convert the regular combo into an extension 112. How hard is it to remove the valance? Is it glued in?

It screws in from the inside. That's the way my Therapy head cab was put together.
