I'm considering purchasing a used Monza combo, listed as a Monza ZA-30. It also shows 30 watts RMS on the back panel. What in tarnation does this mean? Thanks team!

Welcome to the Forum - a lot of good people and information. The ZA-30 is the model number of the amp - it has nothing to do with the power or anything else. The amp itself is rated as 20 watts. Here is a a link to the stat sheet from the Z-website - lot of good information here. drzamps.com/product/monza/ Here is a good article that will help you understand the difference between watts and RMS. www.retromanufacturing.com/blogs/news/watts-rms-vs-peak-maxNeedless to say, all you really need to know is that the Monza is one loud amp - and a whole lot of fun!

Interesting... Well, the Monza has always been listed in the sales/website info as a "20 W" head and a lot of them had 3 speaker outputs--16, 8, and 4 ohms (but didn't say "20 W" or even "30 W" on those back panels).
However, a quick Google image search shows that there might've been some "ZA-30" models (the Monza) with only 2 outputs--8 & 4 ohms--showing "30 W" underneath, as you're saying. [egcycle, does the one you're looking at only have the two outputs like that?]
I know that early in the Monza's life, there was a change somewhere adding the PPIMV. So I wonder if this is a "pre-PPIMV" vs. "post-PPIMV" thing?
Follow-up/Edit: Looking at more images, I'm really getting the sense that the pre-PPIMV (3 knobs on front) Monza's had the 2 outputs and the "30 W" back panel markings. Later PPIMV (4 knobs on front) models got 3 outputs on back, and no mention of output wattage.

egcycle, in addition to Mark's good info above, if you can get the serial number you can determine what year the amp was built. The initial letter (or letters) is the key. A=1990, B=1991, etc. Z=2015, then Doc used AA for 2016.

Thanks for the research on the Monza. I pulled mine out - #31 without the Master Volume. It has two outputs and says 30W RMS. Mike, Do you have a filing system for the amps in your MuZeum?

I tend to group them in what I consider "logical" collections on the shelves - Ghias in one place, Delta 88s together, original Prescriptions and Prescription prototypes (I have several pre-prototypes), but I'm always reorganizing them.

I've got some Marshalls, Fenders, a Soldano, some old Gibsons, a couple of Hollands, - but the Zs get all the playing time.

Mike, Do you have a filing system for the amps in your MuZeum? Filing system: the good ones have a “Z” on the front.

So .. I picked the amp up. YES, the amp is a ZA-30 and based on the "U" serial number is a 2010 (I believe). Also, it only has a 4 and 8 ohm output on the back - not a real issue for me. I git the amp from GC used and will be putting it through it's paces over the next week or so. In typical GC fashion, the amp pictured had all of the knobs but arrived missing the tone knob. Anyone know where I could pick a replacement up - assuming I keep it?

Not sure which knobs are on your amp but here's a good looking set (IMO) pretty inexpensive too!
