Hey all,
Long time gear hound, first time Z-owner here. This past week I was given the chance to own a Stingray 2x12 combo. Its been a wish of mine for some time to find an amp with the magic chime of an AC30 but with more bottom end. I think the Ray might be it!
As context - I’m on staff at a church and play P&W every week and also dabble in country.
I guess my first question is about speakers. The amp comes to me with WGS Green Berets. How do we feel about those with the Ray? I’m also contemplating getting a head shell and 1x12 can just so it’s lighter. Is the Gold the best choice in a 1x12?
Cheers all!

Hello timh! Welcome to the Z family! The Ray was my first Z as well. I now have 2! One head and cab setup, and a 1x12 combo. I love the Gold with the Ray the best! If you go with a 2x12 setup the V30-and anniversary are hard to beat. (I like 2 Blues as well) I also have used the newer Cream(not Cream back but Cream Alnico) speaker with my Ray, but I prefer the Gold!
If you are using it at church you might want to consider the Half power switch from the Z shop or an isolation cab/box of some kind.
Lots of great info and people here!

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your first Z! My StangRay head was also my introduction to the world of Z... Another vote here for the Gold.

Hey brother....is it a Stingray or a Stangray? If it's a stIngray, it's quite rare! Either way only the name is different..... Great amp! Welcome to the group here, and I vote for Golds or Blues....or both (one of each)!

Welcome to the Forum! A lot of good people and information here. I have Stingray #001 - sounds great with the gold as noted above and is awesome with a blue and gold in a 2x12 configuration. Of course, we'll need pics to verify you actually bought this one
