I was messing around with my Therapy with my ES 339 and decided to turn the mids all the way down. Wow! It can really get some "blackface" tones by doing this. I've turned the mids down before, but never off. I have the Bass at about 9:00, Mids off, Treble 1:30-2:00, and the Volume 12-1:00. With these settings, I think the amp gets a very good "just starting to break up blackface tone" with the neck pickup on the 339. It also brightens the amp considerably with these settings.
BTW, I'm pushing it through a Celection Gold. The Mid control is no joke on this amp. It's very powerful on how it shapes the tone.
Want to go back to "Marshall style tone"? Crank the Mids and Volume and plug in your Les Paul! Rocks!
Love it!

I have such a hard time turning that wonderful mid control anywhere down past "all-on". I'll have to give it a try.

The Therapy's Mid control is where it's at. It's a game changer...

There was a particular song I use to do with just vocal and guitar. It sounded best with the mid turned just about all the way down and the tele pickup selector in the middle for kind of and acoustic sound. I kept the volume the same on guitar and amp.
When I went back to normal mode on my guitar I forgot to turn the mids back up to my normal. I couldn’t really hear myself when the band kicked in and realized that turning the mids back up solved that problem. I never had to touch the volume knobs on my amp.
The Therapy mids has some sort of cut value to it that I’ve never had in any other amp. It also has a sparkle quality that I’ve never found in other middle controls. What a fabulous amp!

When I got my Therapy, I set the mid about 1:00 because that's where it was on several online videos. I figured that was a good starting point. However, I found that for playing out with the band the mid control sounds best to me at about 3:00. That's with a Vintage 30 in a Z-1x12 cab.
