I've wanted one of these amps for years and a few years ago there was a head and 212 cabinet that was marked down to $1,600 at a Guitar Center about 4 hours driving time away from me. I should have snagged it but funds were low and I wasn't playing out much. Funds have improved and I'm back to gigging weekly so I've been on the lookout for one.
They've gotten scarce and pricey! I haven't looked around much but they aren't very plentiful it seems. I'm aware they aren't being made any longer, what can I expect to pay for a used one?

Last I looked there was a head at the Colorado Springs Music Go Round for $1100. No affiliation.

They aren't too bad, though it depends on the seller - I've seen anywhere from $1k to $2.6k.
There's a combo for sale in the B/S/T section currently, and a couple different ones on Reverb.

After looking all weekend I pulled the trigger on the Stang Ray from the Colorado Springs Music Go Round. From the serial number it appears to be made in 2013...I'll likely send it in and have it gone through. Can't wait to get it and glad to be back in the Z fold!

Argh! UPS didn't acknowledge my pre-delivery electronic signature and Music-Go-Round requires one so it is still in transit. I hate that. I'm taking tomorrow off to make sure I'm there this time. In the meantime I ordered an empty, oval open back 212 from Dr. Z (Sheree IS awesome!) from their old stock...after learning that the blonde tolex now probably won't match 2013's tolex I went with a black cab, brown grill with a blonde Z logo. Found a deal on a mountable brake lite and I have a couple Celestion blues and a gold..I'll play with them them and decide what works for me.
There will be pictures as soon as I get it all together!

However, I'd want the AlNiCos in there so the landed cost would have been prohibitive. I can't imagine a Stingray/Stangray with the AlNiCos.....it just doesn't seem right !

That amp is also on Reverb for $1,100 plus shipping and there’s one in OKC for $1,500 as well. In the end I decided I’d rather have the head and 212 cab and things aligned to get most of what I was looking for. I’d liked to have had the matching cabinet but since I already had the speakers it was most economical to get what was available from Dr Z.
I plugged the head into another amp’s speaker for a bit to make sure everything is in good working order and I’m looking forward to getting everything together. Played a benefit with my band last night and they are all excited, too. We have the next couple weeks off so I’ll spend some time getting to know the amp better, I can’t wait to use and hear it!

If you are sending it into the Z shop, you might want to look into getting a half power switch added at the same time. They put one on my Stingray and it is great.

Hey Bryan - what did that mod run you? In addition to the half power mod, I had the amp all checked out to make sure it was still up to spec. I believe with all new tubes, shipping and the services I previously mentioned it was just over $300. Not a bad price at all for basically a new(ish) amp gone over by the guys who built it and know how they are supposed to sound.
