Hi, I’m having my EZG now for a while now. Wonderful amp, lots of power and great cleans.
I’m only wondering about the following:
When I use a RAT, Basic Audio Futureman or other fuzz, the EZG has a hard time dealing with it. If I take for example a simple E5 powerchord and hit the strings, I’ll hear the signal getting compressed and the volume will drop a little for 1 or 2 seconds. Than the fuzz comes in full blast. (I’m a hard hitter)
It happens with my P90 loaded strat, another model with Supertrons and a Tele as well. Workaround is to put the volume on the guitar on 8 or 9. Changing the Pre or Post doesn’t help. Now I also have a Maz Jr NR who never had that problem. Is this something that has to do with the design of the amp?

Hi there, Does this situation also happen when the reverb and swell are off/set to zero? Hopefully someone with more electronic experience will chime in, but wondering if you have a tube situation that is causing this volume delay.
Tube chart from the Z site: EZG 50 V1: 12AX7, V2: NOS 12AT7/6201, V3: 12AX7, V4: NOS 12AT7/6201, V5/6: Tung Sol 6L6GC STR(matched pair), V7: 5AR4 Recommended Bias Point: 28mA
There is Doc's recommendation for V2 and V4 NOS 6201 tubes, but not sure if that if just for better tone or a performance reason. Do you know which tubes you have in the amp or approximate age?
But I was wondering more if you have a tube or tubes that might be going out, such as preamp tubes V2 or V4. I believe V4 is the phase inverter tube passing signal from the preamp to the power tube section. Or the power tubes themselves possibly are worn out or having an issue. Usually preamp tubes last a very long time, but they can go bad. Just a thought about your situation.

Thanks fpr your help z4me.
I'm not using the reverb with the 'fuzz band'. So that can't be it I think.
The amp was checked by a technician a couple of months ago. He only replaced the powertubes. I will have a look what tubes I have exactly.

Yea, I was thinking it may be a tube issue also. My EZG takes fuzz nicely. I usually run an overdrive after the fuzz to smooth it out a little.
But even running my fuzz by itself, I don't get the 1 to 2 second volume drop.
