Should be here Monday, after a two year and four-month wait. Because that's apparently how long it takes to mine, smelt, and cast the unobtanium. It'll be interesting to see if it makes it onto any of my boards at this point, but even if it doesn't I'm planning to hang onto this one. I realized a few months ago that really what I'm doing is collecting pedals, so I've got my eye on a nice, antique display cabinet and I figure the KOT will look good in there. I'm planning to pick up a few other iconic pedals while I'm at it, to go with some of the more exotic ones I currently favor. Plus, who knows--if I hang onto it long enough, maybe it'll pay for my retirement.
Also, I gotta say--the weirdness of trying to control what people do with these pedals after they wait for years to get them and pay the almost $300 retail price just baffles me. It's basically blaming the customer for a situation the manufacturer has created.

I've been on the list for about a year now. Gotta see what all the hoopla is about, and Jon, I love your idea about a nice antique display cabinet for my pedals. I have enough now to just about fill one up...Something like this?

I waited just under two years. Got mine last summer. I really like mine but that's not to say it doesn't have its drawbacks. Got the high gain red with 4 jacks, so I can put other side anywhere in my looper. I personally A/B'd the high gain red vs standard gain both sides. To my ear, there is slight bass cut on the left side, but a much more obvious one on the high gain side. Analog Mike would deny that, but its quite noticeable to me. I actually hated it the first time I plugged in because of that. Was seriously disappointed. But in a live mix it sits well. In the end, I kept the high gain pedal just for the flexibility and because I liked the yellow side on that pedal more than either one on the standard gain pedal. I'm a cork sniffer, I know. The yellow side in OD mode is wonderful. In fact, I'd pay $200 just to have that one channel in a single box. I know the POT is supposed to be that, but its just not.
All in all, I really like mine. It stands up to any blues breaker, TS, or klon type pedal I own. It stacks very well too. Sounds very natural in a band mix. Has just the right amount of compression, and clips just enough highs and lows to sound like your amp just getting pushed more. I tend to like less highs and lows the higher I go in gain. Keeps the top fizz free and the lows tight. With both channels on in OD mode, you can get some awesome Plexi style tones.
Hope you enjoy it. Good news is that is an easy flip if you don't!

Been reading about this pedal for years, so after years of saying nothing's worth that kind of wait, I put my name on the list yesterday. I'll probably forget I ever did by the time my name comes up. Can't win if you don't play, so I enter the game.

Lucky guy! I put my name in the hat on 7/27/17 so I should be receiving the email in several months (fingers crossed). What color/configuration did you end up choosing?

I went with classic purple, higher gain on both sides. Which still isn't very much gain--but, to be fair, that's not what the KoT is about. It's meant to dirty up a Twin Reverb, basically, and to add a clean boost on top of that. State of the art, back in the day. It's a classic. It'll go on the same shelf as the Timmy, the TS-808 and the Flying Dragon. Wish I still had one of the three Clark/Barber Gainsters I've owned--they're selling for $600 on Reverb now.

This will be my third KoT--I bought my first one maybe ten years ago, liked it pretty well with my Maz 18 but ended up selling it to finance other stuff. The second one didn't recapture the magic for me and got sold in short order. I'm not expecting a whole lot from this one, but it'll be a nice addition to the collection I suddenly realized I had, as I say.

I'm going to start making a lis of the one's I've wanted in the past but passed on. My name on the KoT list comes up pretty soon (January 9, 2017). I had the pedals in a couple curio-type cabinets in the past and it looked fantastic. Now I have them in my red tool chest sliding drawers and that's a nifty solution for the way I have the Man cave now.

Yeah--this is a nice, glass-fronted cabinet that was in my grandmother's house, and is sitting in my mom's house now, which we're fixing to clear out in May, since she's moved into an independent living place (the food's terrible--and the portions--so small! Old joke, sorry). Anyway, if it happens I'll post pics, of course. Trying to figure out where to put the dang thing at the moment.

The KoT got here in good shape--just spent a few minutes with it, playing a Les Paul into a Z-Lux. It's pretty much as I remember: a tad on the bright side, pretty thin until you get the volume to about 1:00, a little underpowered gain-wise at the stock dipswitch settings. On the upside, pretty transparent, good clarity and note separation at higher settings. Given the choice, though, I'd pick the Jetter Monster and/or the Wampler Paisley Deluxe over the KoT; both have a little more compression (a good thing, for me) and smoother/fatter drive sounds.

I have been on that list many times and bought the kot and ended up flipping them all. I tried the high gain low gain and no matter what just ended up going with something else. They are good though. I’m more into fuzz then overdrive though.

It causes over drive pedal addiction It's an overdrive pedal made my Analogman. A quick Youtube or Google search will get you all the detail. It's one of the boutique must haves for many...thus a waiting list. Those who don't wait for it often end up paying a little more from a private seller in order to get it. I've never owned one...yet!

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly does the KOT do? Its a pedal Ive heard of but never tried and Ive tried a bunch but this one slipped thru the crack. It's a dual overdrive/boost pedal. Typically configured, the right side is an overdrive, the left side a clean-ish boost. It's supposedly based on the Marshall Blues Breaker pedal circuit, heavily modified. It's supposed to be a transparent, amp-like OD with an added clean boost, best run into a cooking amp--and that really is the best way to use it. When it first came out it was pretty revolutionary--there weren't a lot of dual pedals on the market, and the circuit was pretty unique. But since then lots of other boutique pedal builders have come along with their own takes on the dual pedal thing and in some cases, IMO, have produced better-sounding, more useable pedals without all the hype and without the absurd waiting list.

If you guys haven’t done so, run it at 18v. It’s a totally different pedal. You’re gonna lose some of the gain, but it’s going to be amazing (IMO).
My name just came up yesterday and I’m trying to see if I can’t have something unique done to mine just to make others wish they had done the same lol.

I've got a year and a half or so to go on the list, so I'm looking at all the options.

premiumplus (Dave) both versions I’ve had were high gain red side and normal gain yellow side. The first one I had also included an external dipswitch for the red side (let’s you choose between OD, distortion, and boost without fiddling with dipswitches on the inside of the pedal. I am doing high gain both sides (you don’t lose headroom, just gain more drive), extra power jack (I run the kot and my bad bob boost at 18v and that takes up too many outs on my power supply), four jack option (so I can activate/deactivate each side separately with a looper). I really like the boost, but I prefer it to be second and prefer it with high gain, otherwise I’d save the $10.

I've got seven days to go on the list.
I'd just want some odd colour if i could! I assume the only colours available are the basic purple and maybe white?

Got my KoT email last night. Deciding if I'll actually order on or not If you can get a red one, definitely. It will sound better, as you know. Imo, it's a pedal well worth having in one's stash even if it's not on your gig board.

If you don't want it, perhaps you could transfer your place in line for a reasonable fee. When my name came up i offered it to a friend. Edit: Gratis
