My EZG 50 went silent, no sound AT ALL, you can't even hear any difference when you throw the standby switch. I checked all the usuals, Fuse, Guitar Cable, Speaker Cable, Speaker Cab, changed them all out, still no sound at all. No hum, no buzz, no squeal, no static, NOTHING. Power tubes are all lit up and look fine, preamp tubes are all lit up, but the V1 looks weaker then the rest, could this be my problem ? I already ordered all new tubes, I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts, or suggestions, on how to find out for sure, what is wrong, Thanks.

Do you have another preamp tube you could try in V1? If V1 is totally dead you'll get nothing but silence.

I does sound (or appear) to be a tube issue since you ruled out the other items. Update us when the new tubes arrive, or if you have another amp the change out V1 that would help rule it out. When the new tubes do arrive remove any bad ones and keep the others as back up - then replace any ones that are not bad so you still have back ups.

Sounds like it might be the rectifier tube - always suspect when there is suddenly no sound. Get a new one AND several fuses - even though a fuse may look good it can be bad. I know from personal experience. You'll need slow-blo fuses. You should always have a couple on hand. Here's the link to Doc's trouble shooting guide. Good practice to follow it since you'll probably be able to figure out the problem quicker. drzamps.com/info/faq-troubleshoot/

Thank You guys for the tips, I'll have to look and see if I have another tube laying around to swap out with the V1, I think I have some that I pulled out of my Maz, that are still good tubes. I definitely Don't have another 5AR4 though, so if it's not the V1, I won't know until the new tubes get here. Thanks you guys for the help, I really appreciate your responses, and I love this site, you guys are the best.

Update, I tried the V1 with a good tube swap, no difference.I guess I'll just wait on the tubes, and if that's not it, take it to my amp tech.

I just took a good look up close at the rectifier tube, and it appears to have some little pieces of white debris from something loose inside the tube, little white flakes, 6 or 8 or so. I used to work at RCA, and I'm pretty sure that a vaccum tube isn't supposed to have ANYTHING floating around loose inside it. It appears to still have vaccum, so I don't know if the cathode or anode fried, or maybe a plate, anyway, I'm hoping that's the only problem, new tube on the way, I'll let everyone know what I figure out, and Thanks again for all the tips, I appreciate it.

Glad to hear it was a simple rectifier. Once it happens to you you never forget how to fix it!
