Had my maz 8 with a blue since October. After playing it almost exclusively in triode mode, my playing situation has changed and I’m thinking of switching to pentode. I’m looking for a bit tighter and firmer feel. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I run the Bass control higher than I did my MAZ 18. I ran a Celestion Gold Alnico for a long time until recently. It is pretty much a Blue with a slightly firmer low end.

Flip the switch, ... you'll dig it.
The cool thing about the Maz 8 is, there are great tones available with a wide variety of knob settings.
A couple days ago I read a post about running the cut up and treble down. So, for the last few days my settings have been : Single coils, high input, pentode mode, V 10:00, T 9:00, M 11:00, B 10:00, R 8:30, C 4:00, MV 10:00, BL on 1. Amp sounds great.
Pentode should give a tighter feel even with a blue. That's just opinion though. My Maz 8 came with a Creamback. I rarely run my bass knob above 12:00.

That is about where my Bass is set. It is at 11:30. I never had it much past 9:00 on my MAZ 18 or my MAZ 38. I set it where the control was just starting to have some effect, similar to the way I set the Bass on a BF/SF Fender. The MAZ 8 just seems to need more from that control. Other forum members have commented the same thing.

Running in pentode really highlights the shared MAZ DNA of the amp. Have fun!

Pentode mode has always been my favorite flavor with the Maz 8.

Wow! Cranked the master for the first time in pentode mode...I was amazed at the complexity of the sound. It really allowed the amp to breath and really show all it had...I’m still stunned.
