Hey fellas, I've got an old friend out in California that I used to play guitar with back in the '70's and last year we reconnected after 35 years.
He had an old EP-3, one of the early ones, that has been sitting in a closet for almost 40 years and last week he sent it to me as a gift! So I spent a couple of days going over it, cleaned and lubed it, checked the caps for leakage and they were all okay, so I brought the voltage up slowly on my bench and she came to life. After running it for several hours I re-loaded the tape cartridge with new tape, adjusted the head azimuth, and set the recording bias and the bias trap. It sounds GREAT!
I'm going to gig it this morning at church. I'll put some pictures up later.

You deserve that! He knew who to give it to. He's a great guy...I'm very fortunate! I spent about 15 hours going over it, top to bottom. Here's some pics, it worked perfectly today, no hiss or problems at all. It is missing the top cover that goes over the tape and tape path/heads, but for free I'm not complaining! <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 19.92px; height: 3.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_54351991" scrolling="no" width="19.920000000000073" height="3.019999999999996"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 19.92px; height: 3.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 927px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_9864330" scrolling="no" width="19.920000000000073" height="3.019999999999996"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 19.92px; height: 3.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 93px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_3673188" scrolling="no" width="19.920000000000073" height="3.019999999999996"></iframe> <iframe style="position: absolute; width: 19.92px; height: 3.02px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 927px; top: 93px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_94806968" scrolling="no" width="19.920000000000073" height="3.019999999999996"></iframe>

Yeah put a plate on the bottom with the same thread as a mic stand, so you can have it waist high next to you ala Tommy Bolin!😎 That’s a cool unit Dave, congrats.

That's super cool Dave! And I know you've got it sounding great. Back in the day, this and the Space Echo went head to head. For guitar, I always preferred the Echoplex.
