I picked up a Catlinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe last week. It's pretty much unbelievably great. I had been using the standard Belle Epoch for the last year or so now (which I really liked as well). The Deluxe version is on another level. It's inspiring. Tonewise they are pretty different. The Deluxe has several programs to choose from. If I set the Deluxe to the second setting (which is the analog algorithm) it sounds almost just like the regular BE. Setting the deluxe to the first program, EP3, it's got the greatest tone. You can almost hear the tape running. I love this thing. I'm using an expression pedal with it for the delay time. Heel down takes it to 80ms. Perfect for a hardly noticable slap back type delay effect. Toe down takes to as crazy as you want to get. This is a great pedal. Highly recommend. I've tried a bunch of the tape style delays. Usually the modulation sounds pretty corny. Sort of like a caricature of an actual tape delay. They did a good job on the modulation knob on the BED. It never sounds goofy. It's a warm sounding delay that can be always on if you're using an exp pedal with it. The exp pedal can either control volume if repeats, or delay time in most modes.

It’s a modern classic. The preamp really helps give it its things.

I had the regular one and loved it. I don't remember what the amp switch was at the time, but after getting a new amp I had to set the pedal different to get what I wanted out of it. It ended up oscillating uncontrollably on that setting. The deluxe looks great.
