I posted this in "General" but realized this morning that there's a whole section dedicated to the Mazerati so I moved it here.
OOOH boy I now understand why everyone loves them.. It was really cold and windy out so nobody was in Guitar Center, so I got to turn it up and let it really talk. I plugged in a used AVRI 57 Strat and the clean headroom on this amp blew me away! SO easy to dial in an amazing tone, through an open back no name cab it sounded almost 3D. I've never played an amp that sounded so divine, I'm not sure what speakers were in the cab, I'm guessing they were Celestion Blues, but either way, it was so rich and full. Perfect strat clean tone, and when turned up really surprised me with the sustain and balance of frequencies. It was obvious that it could cut through any mix you put it into but will never be harsh or unpleasant. Then I plugged in an R0 Les Paul.. this is the part where the fun begins. I was completely blown away by the fact I could have a perfect strat tone and then plug in a Les Paul and didn't have to adjust anything to get a perfect tone. Of course it had less headroom with humbuckers but it still stayed pretty clean. One thing I liked about it was that it's almost like theres an invisible attenuator. What I mean is that the volume doesn't change much between 9:00 and wide open on the volume. It just gets more overdriven! And I LOVE that!!
All I have to say is.. Hats off to you Doc! I've always known that your amps are of a higher caliber. But now I feel like I have a much better understanding of just HOW good they are! If the Maz series is anywhere close to the Mazerati I think I know exactly what my next amp will be!
The only one word description I can give about the Mazerati is "perfect".
