I went to a jam back in my home town last night. I took my Therapy and my 1x12 cab with the V-30 and my Les Paul. No effects! Just the guitar and amp. I worked the guitar volume all night. It really excelled at the '70s songs we played. I need to get some type of kick back stand for the cab for the next time I jam with them. I have not played with the those guys in 30 years. There were a couple of other guitarist there. My old high school buddy was using an Orange amp, but I don't know what model he used. The other guy was using a solid-state Fender. It was '70s gain (Therapy) meets '90s gain (Their amps). The Orange's high gain got a little lost in the mix and it was hard for me to hear him, but to his defense, he likes to play with high gain and this may have been the first time he had to play with someone who was using an amp with less gain...MUCH less gain. My buddy liked my rig. He liked how clear and smooth it was. He said it reminded him of AC/DC's cranked Plexi tone. I'm going to continue to work on him and turn him into a Z guy! Here's the sad note. Back when I was in high school and college, there were several emerging musicians around our age in that small town. I asked the folks that still live there about musicians after our time. There are none. It seems that after rock died in '92, there was no more inspiration for kids to become musicians. It's truly sad.

Man, I really enjoyed reading your entry. I have no idea about you, but if I had to guess, your about my age.
So...I put my Z 1X12 cab in a kick back stand (using the Therapy) and I personally did not like it. This is just me but it seems like it wanted to be on the floor. With that said, the Therapy and my 1X12 Gold is the rig I take everywhere. I love the kick back method of self monitoring but these days I find a way to stand as far as I can away from my rig. I know it’s not easy to do this during those fun intimate jam sessions, but I make it work.
With the Therapy I work that awesome mid knob to hear myself better. The beauty of this amp is that the mids almost function as a cut knob, but without the nasty looks you might get from grumpy musicians who feel that a typical “cut” function on an amp is too piercing.
Now for your comment about rock dying around 92’...I completely agree. That’s why I commented about your age lol. I’m sure it’s another thread but sometimes I wonder what the heck is going on these days! Don’t get me started!

I just want to lean the cab back somehow. I don't want it off the floor. Yeah, the mid control on this amp is special. I have a Gold that I've wanted to put in my 1x12, but just haven't done that yet. It will probably add some presence to the Therapy that the V-30 can't do.

A friend of mine on this forum said he really liked the V30 with his Therapy. I ended up settling with the Gold and haven’t looked back. It has a tone, or something special, that I haven’t found in any other speaker. When it broke in it was a no brainer for me. Truly amazing!

Too bad somebody doesn't make a latching system like Fender did on the old early '60's Blonde era head/cab units. It locked the head to the cab so you could use the Tilt Back legs on the cab. I don't know if the Standback triangular device would work on the Z 1x12 cab, but even then you'd have to set the head on a chair or stand it on its side. Not an ideal solution.

Yeah, I know. I hate to say this, but a Therapy combo would fit the bill here. Can you imagine how it would sound in those light-weight, resonant cabinets that Doc has now?

I thought that the Z-Wreck combo cab might work so I got my measuring tape out but the Wreck chassis is about an inch wider and the chassis mounting bolts are also about an inch wider than the Therapy.
Mather could make one for you...I forget who but someone here on Z-Talk had a Therapy combo made a couple of years ago.

I'm pretty sure you can buy the Fender head to cab attachment hardware (and the legs) on the after market. That would look pretty cool.

If you only seek a small tilt, try a pair of rubber doorstops. Cheap and easy. Fwiw, I have several amp stands, including the Standback.
