Just checking to see if there is any harm in using a Z28, with an 8 ohm bass cabinet, for low volume recording?
I have actually tried this, for a very short time, and it sounded great. Tube bass tone! Next to my Class D bass amp, it was a huge improvement.
I know the old Ampeg B12 bass amp is 22-25 watts and that is what got me thinking about this.
So could this cause any harm to the amp itself?

Nope, no problem at all.
I do this myself at the studio with a 10" Celestion Gold when re-amping bass from a DI. It's a really great sound.

In theory it shouldn't as long as the amp sees the correct impedance/speaker load. If it were a combo (1/12 w chassis) for bass I'd worry about making the EF86 microphonic but otherwise no issues come to mind.
