I love it! The amount of black crud that comes off is surprising. The stuff last forever....I only used about 3” square each time....I need to order some as I recently ran out.

Yup. Lots of crud! Mine came in a few big sheets and I cut them into little pieces like you said. Then put em in a ziplock baggie. They smell pretty good too.

Mine lasted a really long time...very thrifty and functional product. Easy to use too!

I just use a silver polishing cloth for this and it works really well and lasts forever. Do you guys think this StewMac stuff works better or is easier than a silver jewelry polishing cloth?

I’ve only used the Gorgamyte....does the silver jewelry cloth remove stuff good? The Gorgamyte is really easy...just wipe the frets a few times up and down then clean off with soft cloth= lots of black grime visibly comes off and frets looks brighter.

Yes, it does the exact same thing. It's a two sided cloth, one side for cleaning the gunk off the frets and the other side to polish it. I do it every time I change the strings and it takes me about 5 minutes. This other stuff sounds like it might be quicker?

Each piece of Gorgamyte you use gets thrown away....which is why we cut it up into smaller pieces. Sounds like the cloth just is reusable but maybe needs more elbow grease? The Gorgamyte has something (compound or chemical?) that does the work...light finger pressure , rub up and down a few times 1234567 1234567 or whatever your number is , go up the fret board and wipe off with other rag when done. I like the cloth idea too. Gonna look for one.

I've been using it for a couple of years. It really does clean up the frets and fingerboard, but have you also noticed that afterwards (even if I buff the fingerboard and frets with a clean t-shirt) your fingers get dark deposits on them after playing for a while?

I've never used the silver polishing cloth. Is it ok on the fretboard wood too? Or just the frets? I use it mainly on the frets themselves, but it doesn't seem to hurt the fret board. I've been doing this for years, but here is a good article that explains how to use a jewelry cloth. I pretty much do what this article describes every couple of string changes and have been doing it for years. Mod Garage: Fighting Fret Wear

I’ve used 0000 steel wool for years - never worried much about the fretboard and have seen no damage (maybe I’m not as sensitive about it as I should be - but I’ve seen no damage on guitars I’ve owned for decades using this system).
Last year I bought a set of StewMac’s fret erasers and those work well - but candidly the steel wool works best/fastest.

I did notice that. It was the first time I used it so I figured I didn't buff it well enough. I only noticed it the first time I played it immediately afterward. Maybe it needs to dry out or something before you play?
