I was looking at the manual and realized it say GZ34 standard. Swapped out for the GZ34 and it was stiffer. Went back to the 5Y3 and will stick with that. Certainly sounds Vox-ish to my ears

Mine has the 5Y3 in it--came stock that way, I believe, and I love it. I heard & played Doc's "Steve Miller mini-Stang Ray" with the GZ34 in there and was impressed, but there's something I still prefer about my smaller/softer-sounding low-output version with the 5Y3 (more squishy and playful-feeling).

Yes, I believe they originally had a 5y3 as stock rectifier, though the website most recently has said 5ar4, if I recall. Both are great. I found the 5v4 to be a nice “best of both worlds”.
