Congrats on yours! Sweet setup... like a brand M 1/4 stack that covers tons of ground with as few knobs as possible.

And yours too! I've been following your posts. What speaker cab/spks are you using? Seems we have hit on a really nice amp!

I also got the matching cab. With the Celestion Creamback 65M speaker and a Celestion G12 H30 70th Anniversary. They are NOT broke in yet, lol. So the cab isn't as smooth as I think it can be. Honestly, the EMS sounded better (to me) through the Orange Crush Pro 4x12 I used to demo the EMS at Sweetwater. Planning to patch some music through the amp this weekend to hasten the break-in process. Slipknot and trip-hop should loosen things up. :-)

Let us know how you do it and howthat works out? Plugged in Pandora for roughly three hours at a modest volume and the amp EQ set flat (noon). Kept the gain low and on Lo sensitivity. I didn't want to overload the input or preamp. Probably going to to do another few hours throughout the week. I played some Drop-C sludge riffs on it tonight with a Lester knock-off and the lows were better after the break in session. Still has quite a bit of midrange honk and an upper frequency hardness I'd like to reduce a tad. If a thorough break-in doesn't do it, maybe a speaker swap might be in order. That said, it's really close to what I like hearing. I tell you what for sure, with the low tuning and bass backed off, the EMS still produced plenty of thump and rumble. It held together admirably even with heavy palm muting and still did a great job with some droning chord progressions. There is no hiding what guitar you're using, lol. I'm used to amps with so much gain that you can bury the source signal and almost get full on humbucker tones from a single coil. Not so with Mister EMS. You'll get gain, yes, but it won't change the plank of wood in your hands. Anyway, trip-hop tunes (Zero 7, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps, Portisehead, Groove Armada, etc) is pretty clear music with enough bass to move the cone without too many sub-frequencies. You'd probably get similar results with modern country. I briefly toyed with that idea but didn't want to spend Saturday afternoon with an upset tummy and headache. PS-moderate volume was too loud to converse in the room with the amp without yelling, but was OK (enjoyable actually) with the door shut. That said, the bass was audible outside of the house. Not overbearing, just audible. Dave

Ezactly How did YOU do that? "Plugged in Pandora"? I need to know how to do that! I have two 2x12 cabs that have new speakers. One is the z cab and the other is a Fender VK 2x12 with G12-65's. Break-in is taking forever! I 'll continue to chip away ,but i would just like to know how that works! And how it for just listening to music? Like just listening to Pandora while doing other things? Does it work like that? The issue of speaker break-in was discussed thoroughly in that link. That's great, but what about for the purpose of just listening to music?

They way I break in speakers has changed lately. I have two sons who both play now. If I want a speaker broke in I leave the cab plugged in out in the family room and magically it gets all kinds of hours put on the speaker and before long its broke in!

I use a little Bluetooth receiver by Aluratek. It's like $30. You need an adapter to plug the 1/8" plug into the 1/4" input. Pair with your phone, play away :-)
I won't say it sounds fantastic, not like a dedicated full range system with a sub, but it's plenty loud, lol. Use caution with the volume on the phone or other Bluetooth source and creep the volume up on the amp. Also, once you get it going with the LO sensitivity, don't be tempted to switch it to HI. You will be punished with a blast of sound that might make you pee a little. Especially if the band playing is Five Finger Death Punch. Don't ask how I know this.
