I just ordered a gold 10 for my ghia. I've been using a g10 greenback for about a year and a half. Sometimes, I just need a little more sparkle and headroom. The gold seems to be the speaker of choice for the ghia.
My cab is a 3 piece back. I usually keep it closed at my gig to keep volume a little more manageable. How does the gold handle being in a closed back cab?

I've never run my Golds closed. They sound so dang good in an open back.
When you say keep the volume manageable, are you talking relative to the audience, or the other band members? I've always found that closed back cabs kill volume onstage and put it mostly out in the audience, whereas with an open back cab I can get a much better feel for what the audience is hearing.
Since you've got a convertible cab, try it both ways and go for what works.

My cab is usually beside the stage in an enclosure I built around our subs. It sits behind the sub facing the wall. I run a relatively low volume anyway but, the enclosure is open on one side so theres some bleed through to the stage but, we all like it that way. You still get some of the actual amp sound but, it doesnt bleed in mics or blast the audience. It's hard to explain that without showing you a picture but, I dont know how to post pictures on these forums.

I've got an old Z 1x12 gold cabinet that's closed back - sounds great with a Ghia!

I'm contemplating the same thing in my 2x10 combo loaded with Z 10 inch speakers. Sounds so good already but I wonder if the Golds would be even better!

I wonder how the gold would mix with a z-10. Thought about mixing in my 2x10 convertible.

The gold 10” sounds amazing with the z10” inside of docs 2x10 cab. I found the 2 Z’s together a little too dark and heavy on bass. The gold added some high end clarity/sparkle that I was seeking. I’d really like to try out the new 10” cream that’s set to release in the next couple months but at the same time I’m trying to put the shovel down and step away from the rabbit hole.

This is the first I've heard of a 10" cream. Interesting!

I just got one for my Ghia 1x10. I don't know why, but I fought getting one for it.
I regret not getting one sooner - wow!

I put a Gold 10 in a middy, bland, honky sounding Mesa combo and it brought the amp to life. It's a great speaker!

I’ve got a gold 10” in an ISO cab at the studio and it’s a really great sound. I even use it for re-amping bass sometimes. It’s very useful.
