After years with Marshalls and Mesa's, I gave a Maz 38 (old version) a whirl last summer. However, I couldn't even be in the same room as it because the treble was completely out of control for my ears. After a bunch of testing, I simply couldn't get it right so I traded it for an Orange AD30. The allure of a Dr. Z head was still calling for me so I bought a Remedy head (with EQ bypass and master volume) to go into my Z Best cab. Good lord is that a nice amp. It's pretty versatile but has one of the best rock tones I've ever heard!

I think the Non MV Remedy was designed for cutting through if you're playing with the Allman Brothers. I thought about installing a MV but chose to move on, but I really liked the clean tones. In fact I had installed 5881 tubes,I believe, for increased head room and that was really nice.

I like my Remedy. Only using a 1X12 cab. Doesn’t move as much air, but can get loud! ME

I have the Remedy with a 1/12 convertible cab with creamback. Sounds great, of course. But I have a feeling that a 2/12 cab would sound exponentially better. True?

I have the same setup. In my opinion, a 2x12 would add a little extra texture, simply because no two speakers are exactly the same and they're not in the same position, so the sound waves hit you at slightly different times. But at the end of the day, we're talking a VERY slight amount....for me, it's not enough to justify the weight and cost. And if you only stick a mic on one speaker, the other one doesn't provide anything to the recording or PA.
So 'exponentially' better? No....rather 'law of diminishing returns'.
