Has anyone tried the WGS 12c/s speaker in any of their Z amps? I have heard good things about this speaker and am curious how it would sound in a maz38 or z-lux. Thanks for any info.

Got the g10c" in ghia...a little more American voiced and little more upper mid throw, able to crank it a little higher too...I did try c/s in maz and I guess I should of waited for the magic, but imho...maz needed a lilmo sparkle so ended up with et-65 in those 2 amps...would think c/s or c or et-90 in maz 38/zlux would have some real nuggets...

I built a Surgical Steel head for Luke Bryant's guitarist, and he wanted a 1x12 cab to go with it. I had a bunch of speakers that I tried with it and I wasn't happy till I dropped in a GWS 12 c/S . That was it, first cord "I said no more calls I have a winner". That speaker sounded excellent with the high powered clean , rich head.
Just the right amount of everything , and a smooth driven sound.
I think I may order a few more to try with other Z Amps.

WGS has been great in every Z I’ve tried them in... 12G c/s and Reaper....also their V30 one. Monza, Therapy, and Ghia ALL loved them.

I put a 12cs in a 2x12 cabinet with an ET65 and run my Maz18NR 2 into it; it works really well.

I thought the g12c was a perfect fit in the Zplus, and love the G12c/s in my JAZ. They are great speakers.

Their Green Beret. I tried a few different speakers when I had my 28...I came back to the greenback style speaker.

I thought the g12c was a perfect fit in the Zplus, and love the G12c/s in my JAZ. They are great speakers. If I ever got a Z Lux I's give the c/s a try I definitely would. The "C" and "C/S" are the same 75w american toned speaker. The /S has a smooth speaker cone. There is some magic in the smoothie! It's not as bright as the regular C. But I wouldn't call it dark at all either. It's just right. I've tried a few other WGS types, and while they are all really good the G12C & G12C/S really struck me as some kind of awesome. Especially the smoothie. In general WGS as a brand are affordable and of great quality. The brand is very much Z like in that regard.

I love the ET-65 in my Maz 18NR II. Nicholas, have you tried Doc's Z-12 speaker? I have that speaker in several of my Z's and you say the G12C/S is great in the Z-Plus. I've got the Z-12 in my Z-Plus right now...have you tried the Z-12 in the Z-Plus? Can you give me an idea of how different the two speakers would be in that amp?
I've got my interest piqued up on this speaker!

Hey Dave. In one of the reincarnations of my JAZ I did try the Z12. At that time, prior to the Z12 I had been using an Eminence C-Rex. I remember thinking they sounded very similar with the Z12 being a bit brighter and livelier. I used it that way for a while and liked it. Then I tried the WGS G12C/S. It was an instant success for me and it's been living in there since. I have had a few brief experiment with other speaks, but the C/S is it for me. At least for that amp. I always think of the speaker as the final eq. For me the C/S makes the amps EQ more usable as I previously felt like I was fighting brightness and brittleness. The C/S has a nice weight to the upper frequencies. In my JAZ I would say it makes it a thick, fat sounding clean amp. I really enjoy it. I did try the C/S in my Zplus. I actually bought a second one for it and loved it in there as well. However having two similar amps with the same speaker seemed redundant. So I bought a G12C for it. It's a bit brighter, snappier and thinner. But if I only had the Zplus I probably would have stayed with the C/S. I think the G12C/S is a special speaker. Especially if you feel you might be fighting brightness a little.

I have used the 10 inch version of the c/s and really liked them. However, I wound up with an ET65 in Maz jr and it is a keeper. (the 10 inch et65 version is great also - I've simply moved away from 10s)

I took the Gold out of my Z-Wreck and swapped it with the ET-65 that was in my Maz 18NRII. Win-win. The Wreck got a better handle on the high end and being less efficient the ET-65 lets me turn the Wreck up a bit more. In the Maz 18 the Gold sounds stellar. I tried hooking the Gold and the ET-65 up to the Z-Plus and actually like the Z-12 better in that amp. Perhaps I'll give a C/S a try in the Plus. It does have a little too much top end for me.

Not a lot, but I do like the little I have heard with the 12c/s in the NOVA 1X12 combo. Also sounds good with the new RT 66 prototype I'm working on.

Dropped a 12c/s into my Stang Ray Combo last night. Haven't had a chance to really wring it out yet, but I like what I'm hearing so far.

I would just recommend asking them if they found out why some customers including me had issues with cone cry or octave notes above the 12th fret. I really thought I must have been the only one that had this happen until I put the speaker model followed by the words “cone cry” in the search bar on the home page of their website and found others who had an identical experience. To their credit they have not removed the comments that were left on their site. I did not comment, but did end up having to pay return shipping due to not wanting a replacement. But frankly, after having the problem that seemed to be treated as an exception to the rule ( which it may be by now ), I was feeling a bit snake bit and just wanted a refund. So I spent $30.00 to try a speaker that was not quite right to say the least. I only post this so that those here that are interested in this particular speaker may have a basis of inguiry to the manufacturer to understand if they ever felt these problems were real, and if so how the issue was resolved. Trust me it was a real problem, and unrelated to mounting errors or bad strings and setup. And I am encouraged from the positive comments I have read recently that indicate the speaker is performing like I wished it would have for me. But I would have felt more comfortable had the issue been acknowledged, and upon verification by them been offered a full refund including shipping. I hope my comments are not seen at all as a drive by bash, but rather as a measured and fair opinion. I do wish them the best of success as they are a company dedicated to offering products to us guitarists in order to help fulfill our sometimes crazy tone needs.

That's really interesting because I noticed the same thing (cone cry) with my ET-65 when I had it in my Z-Wreck. When cranked loud, it definitely had some nastiness up above the 12th fret. I put a Gold back in and all is good in the world once more.
It makes me wonder if I damaged the ET-65 somehow, because I never noticed it with other amps. It only happens at certain frequencies, like the B string at the 19th fret, or the 17th fret when bending up one full step.
