I'm pondering a Z-Lux and Z 4x10 running 5881's instead of the stock 6V6's. Does anyone know if using the 5881's will be too much for the Brake Lite? I know the Z-Lux is cathode based/ 40 watts with the 6v6 but wasn't sure if the 5881's pushed it past the 45 watt limit of the Brake Lite?
I've also heard of it being just under rating of the 50 watt EZG put people still use it although they say it gets a bit hot.
Thanks! Joe

Changing from 6V6 to 5881's or 6L6's will change the impedance for the output to half. If you're running 4 Ohms with 6V6, then the speaker impedance load with 5881's would be 2 Ohms.
Since I've never designed an attenuator, I can't tell you what to expect from doing that.
Personally, I wouldn't do it.
