Where do you buy them? I haven’t seen any for sale! These are early, pre- release purchases made directly from the Z Shop based upon expressions of interest at Z-Fest. I think. An official release will be coming in the near future.

Let ‘er rip! Question: how hard are you having to compete with your son for playtime? Funny how some of us have to sneak our new gear from the wife, and some from the kids, but for different reasons.

Todd, please give us your thoughts between this Nova and a Therapy. Two different amps all together Russel. The Therapy is smooth, thick smooth cleans and a very smooth over drive. Very yummy!!! The NOVA is well rooted in tweed. The overdrive is hairy and cunchy. Even the cleans have a little bite to them. I do really like the ability to play clean and add distortion on top of it. I can even play with the volume of both the clean and distortion to control my tone. Doc described it to my son Josh like this, it's like playing a clean amp and stepping on a tube screamer to add distortion. (I had to laugh though because Josh has no idea what a tube screamer but he got Doc's point)

Todd, have you tried cranking the clean channel wide open? I love that tone! The Therapy is for sure a different animal, but I was able to get them to sound pretty close to each other. I should have written down my settings.

I should have written down my settings. Hey Dave, Close but . . . . the NOVA is still a hairier sound and the NOVA has a bit more roar to it, especially with my SG. In fact, my SG with the drive up at about 1 o'clock, volume at about 11 o'clock and master at 10 o'clock was pretty darn good hard rock sound. Another item about this amp that is cool, much like the Z28 is famous for, is the tone controls can significantly add gain to your signal. I was running the treble at 3 0'oclock and the bass around 10 o'clock and it added a very nice sizzle to my signal. I try turning up the clean volume all the way and couldn't really find anything I liked . . . . I'll mess with it some more and see, I tried it with my G&L ASAT and it was harsh sounding but I am trying not to judge the tone too much right now until that GH30 gets fully broken in . . . . that reminds me, I need to tell my oldest son Michael to put some hours on it to . . . between him and Josh I will have that speaker broken in in no time!!

Hey Todd, I was using my Firebird with the mini-humbuckers. Also other humbucker guitars. I forgot to mention that I am using the Z-12 speaker in my Nova right now. I'm pretty sure it would sound different with the G12H in there. It is amazing what the tone controls do for the gain, isnt' it? I'm really diggin' this amp. I love the sound of the amp's overdrive mix with clean tone. My SG has the 490R and 498T pickups in it and rocks the Nova. What pickups are you using in yours?

Hey Dave, I have the same pick ups in my SG, love 'em. My ASAT has more of a vintage wind pick up set in it and I honestly don't like the way it sounds in several of my amps when I try pushing to overdrive. My other tele is at church, I'll bring that home this weekend and see how if I like that clean channel cranked better with that guitar. Doc told me he tried a variety of speakers with the NOVA and liked the G12H30 the best so that is what I went with. I have a Z 12 in my Z Lux so I may grab and extension cable and give it a try sometime. This amp is very cool, I am very glad I found the funds to get one
