Hey guys, the Rx came yesterday. Played it for a hour or so this AM and its pretty nice. My thoughts:
Really nice sparkly cleans (vol at 4 or 5) with my strat in the bridge pickup and my fender reverb on 4's. Could get pretty ice-picky with the bright switch in top position with my strat in the bridge, but thats par for the course. I took some of the top off which made it a nice full glassy clean. It seemed to do clean/chimey better than my deluxe reverb. I'll have to A/B them at some point.
With humbuckers and volume 8 or 9 (through my air brake so the paint stayed on my walls) and mids turned up it had nice breakup and sounded good. More of a smooth growl than the EMS (which seems more aggressive and not as smooth, but great). Prob the dif between the EL84 and 34. This is my first amp with 84's so I look forward to getting to know that tube better.
I was surprised about other posts on here saying that the Rx broke up early, I found this one stayed pretty clean longer than I expected. Its used, so maybe the tubes don't have a ton of life left in them or something. I plan on sending it to Dr Z at some point for a check up and maybe new tubes.
I didn't love the sound when the expand switch wasn't on. I'll have to figure out what frequencies this enhances.
I'm running it through my EMS cab. I saw on another post that it originally came with a pair of green backs. EMS is a cream back and H30, so maybe I"ll try different speakers to dial in the tone.
I'd post some pics, but couldn't figure out how...

Is it the forest green one? If so, glad to hear you got it. That one is beautiful and built like a tank. Would love to see some more photos of it. Never played an Rx, but definitely seems like an interesting circuit. Have fun with it!

here are some pics imgur.com/a/SJRLBXkLots of iron in there! Any recommendations on a pedal? I'm not sure what kind will work.

Good Lord, that’s a monster of a build. Doc spared no expense building that one. Massive iron and filtering, used Sprauges and other high end caps in the build. That will last a lifetime.

Zen drive and the Rx were made for each other. H&K rotosphere is another go to for me

You mentioned above about sending it back to Dr Z for a checkup. I can't encourage that enough. His team does great work and will get the amp sounding better than new. Congrats on your new amp and enjoy it.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. I'm the original post I wrote "pedal" but I should have been more clear, I'm wondering about the foot switch, I want to hear the amps foot-switchable boost. I emailed Dr Z and they said "ANY STANDARD LATCHING TYPE FOOTSWITCH" would work but I'm not sure what that means. Would this work? www.amplifiedparts.com/products/footswitch-marshall-one-button

That's a nice looker....love the green. Not sure where you're located but I just came across a beautiful green DR Z open back 2x12 on Cincinnati, OH craigslist that would be a nice match for that head, and he's only asking $325. Congratulations on the Rx, it's one of the best amps ever made. enjoy

I emailed them and they said the variable boost wouldn't work with the RX. I got that other pedal and the boost is small but noticeable, but overall the gain isn't over the top. I've ben playing the Rx with my EMS so maybe thats affecting my perception of things, but the Rx is more tame overall, but does cleans really nicely.
