Hey Folks,
I'm assuming that, since this video was shot at the Z Fest, some forum members are in it. In any case, I'm stoked to be able to hear a Galaxie, even though hearing one is not the same as playing one.
I've been so happy with my Maz 38 Sr. that I never thought I'd be interested in another amp again (okay, maybe a Prescription ES or KT-45), but the Galaxie has really piqued my interest.

The Galaxie is a very cool amp, I'd say it'll rank right up there with the top sellers once word get's out......don't count out a 2x10 with the Galaxie ;^)

From the clips,it seems like it is going to be a big hit for Doc. ;D

The Doc said he's going to use this 'platform' to launch several amps. Like the Route 66....KT-88...Z-28 platform.
I'd like to hear the amp with EL34's.

That was for you Tas.........Down under 9's are 6's. Maybe?

Well if a 6 was a 9... ;D
Sorry, I should have explained my confusion a little better. Why would the Rt 66 and Z28 be "launched" on youtube? I don't get the context of the statement. Unless Doc is putting out a 2866. That would be quite an amp.

My guess is that the KT-99 is the KT-45 and that he's referring to Dr. Z using the EF86 platform for the Rt 66, KT-45, Z-28 etc.
So, he thinks the Galaxie might be the platform for another series of amps from Dr. Z.
Maybe?

Ah yes, that would make sense! Thanks DiZeased. I'm a little fried after last nights gig.

This first one clip I don't think is the Galaxie - at the end you can hear someone say, hey there's a Galaxie amp over there, and they start to move to set-up on it. Also doesn't sound nearly as gainy - more like a maxed out Maz18.

The statement you refer to is next trying a Galaxie Head through a Z Best cab to compare Curt

I came accross these clips really interested in the Galaxie but then I saw a Mazerati GT? What is this I thought. WOW!!! I have a Maz18 that I love but I hate using pedals to push an amp so that's one thing I don't like about it. When I heard the GT I was blown away! That is how I want my amp to sound, like a Fender meets a Marshall. It really never does an amp justice through a mic on a camcorder but if it can come across that good I WANT ONE! Mine may come with a divorce so if anyone would like to bid on a slightly used wife I'll throw her on Ebay!
How much for one? Which comes first for the new line of amps?
;D

I was intrigued by the gain on the Maz GT, but I thought the Galaxie sounded bigger and fatter...at least in the vids. I'd be smitten with either one.

Hard to say from the vids what these things really sound like - man would I love a few hours in my studio with both amps (Galaxie / Maz GT). From the videos - I almost felt like the Mazerati GT had a rectifier sound to it. (here comes the cat calls!!!!)

Okay....so the deal is the Galaxie is coming out for sure the Mazerati GT is coming out for sure (?) and what is this about some E-Z 40 or something like that?...is it coming out as well, or is that just some idea?.......and what about this evan I've heard about? If any of y'all are willing, it would be awesome to have a tell all post about new material and new ideas. By the way, what are the evan and the E-Z 40 (or whatever it's called) supposed to sound like? Anybody want to give some fairly definitive answers? thanks!!!! just tryin' to sort it all out...I've probably missed these in some other threads, but this forum is huge!

Yes, the 3 models you speak of are coming, and i know at least the GT and the Galaxie are getting orders now. The Evan/EZ, i'm not sure when but it's coming. As for sounds i was fortunate to be able to play and listen to all 3 of em at the shop and play the the GT on stage.
The GALAXIE would be the Doc's nod to the best Tweed fender designs in regard to clean and cranked clean, without trying to just repro a fender - VERY NICE! But it also can then switch to a pretty smokin gainy "old marshall" type thing. I think this is gonna be a huge seller!
- The Evan is in my opinion the Doctors take on a BIG 6L6 sound. If the Galaxie is Tweed, the Evan is your Blackface ( with some twists ). It is HUGE sounding! Big round notes with a ton of depth and complexity, and Deeeep reverb. If you took my 65 Vibrolux and tweaked and perfected it, you would get the idea. The amp can be suprisingly spanky tho too! And then it has a footswitchable boost that really smokes as well. The great thing is, that the boost is voiced very nicely, unlike so many fender attemps at the same thing, and the reverb backs off some with the boost engaged, so it doesnt obscure the drive tone. Another big winner.
And last my fave, the Maserati GT. What a great rock/blues amp! It's got that mid/upper- mid, content and aggression like most EL84 types, BUT it stays really nice and firm or Muscular. It does not compress down as fast or as much as many other 84 amps. It's got a lot of authority on stage, and the volume ( Loud ) is perfect for a good sized club. This amp is so simple circuit wise ( vol. & tone ) and has that incredible openess and transient speed to it, without being too loose, nor is it too tight and focused. Cant wait for mine! I hope that helps a little, as always it's a pretty subjective business, but i think they're pretty close.

Hey telemanic
Thank you so much!!!! This is exactly what I was wanting! I saw some clips of the Galaxie and Mazerati GT on youtube...........WOW!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm in love. And it sounds like my Twin Reverb with the JBL's could potentially find a replacement with the EVAN. Any clips on that bad boy out there?....or any idea on a rough date of arrival? So far that GT REALLY strikes my fancy. Thanks for all the info.

That sounds great. Even for you tube clips the sound is impressive. I can't wait to go hear one. I think the Galaxie may make a good partner for my Maz 18 to work with.
