Let me first admit right up front that I didn't appreciate the Galaxie when I first got it some 8 years ago. I was into my EL84 MAZ Jrs at that time and just let my Galaxie sit upstairs in my music room. Fast forward to last year around this time of year. I got my first Gibson Les Paul. In many ways at first, I kind of treated that Les Paul like I did my Galaxie. "I don't understand this thing, so I going back to my single coil guitars!". Well, a Les Paul needs a certain amp. My feelings toward my Les Paul changed earlier this year when I picked up my Therapy. That LP through that Therapy with my 1/12 cab with a V30 opened my eyes to the greatnest of the Les Paul and the greatness of the Therapy! Since I heard the Nova at Z-fest, I've been bent on getting one. Well, I decided today to go upstairs and bring my Galaxie down. I had to put a new tube in V2. Then I had to read a great deal on this forum to get it set back up again and I'm pretty pleased with the tone! I'm also proud to have a "classic" like this. My regret is that it took me so long to gain this appreciation...

LOL. There's a MAZ Jr up there. A Strat I think. Most of my stuff is downstairs to my wife's dismay!

Lol....I have one of those rooms/closets...it's scary what's in there !
Man, channel 2 will make most players go to the corner and suck on their thumb (except for T-Rock) but what a glorious sound. You need to be a player to control that one!
Great amp.....colour is ok too.

I agree. I love humbuckers with the Galaxie!
I really gotta get mine back in good working condition.

The Galaxie was the first Z amp that got me hooked on Zs (even though I ended up buying the EZG 50 first). I've had four of them - the 3rd one I got isn't going anywhere ever! (JW's combo with a G12 65 in it). Great speaker to pair with the Galaxie!

I got my first Dr Z amp (A Galaxie) head. I have been running it through a Vintage 30 open back pine cab. Any suggestions for other cabinets. I have some old Jensens and some Webers.

Welcome to the Forum! A lot of great info and people here! A G12 65 sounds great with it - it was what Joe Walsh used in it. (I have one of his actual Galaxie combos).
