So, our band hosted the local blues jam this past week, and it all went about as well as could be expected, plus we had a decent payday, which was nice. This is our sound-check, basically--one of the few videos we got that didn't have people standing or dancing in front of us. I've got two Luxes on stage, as you can see--I'm playing through the blonde, and the red is backline I brought in for jammers (better all-around tone that way, and more control of stage volume). I'm running my chambered R7 through a Jetter GS-124 and a touch of delay. The Lux is set clean at 20 watts, EQ more or less straight up. Happy with my tone--sorry about the clams.

Here's another one--not my best outing vocally, but again, I like my tone here.

And yes, maybe there is such a thing as too much cowbell.

Sounds cool, Jon. Did you use the variable Z-Boost? I like your tone. nice grind and good clarity too. Dig it! l do have a suggestion, though. I'd play the red Z-Lux and let the jammers have the blonde. You'll have more authority onstage that way! Redheads just have that certain attitude .

Nice Jon! Sounds great (but we knew it would!). Thanks for sharing the clips.

Thanks, guys. I didn't use the boost--there's something about it I can't get the hang of, I think. It gives the amp a nice push, for sure, but it also does something to the mids I haven't connected with so far. So I use pedals instead, which I have a little more control over, tone-wise. Also, yeah--that red Lux is very sexy. I used it as bait, though, to try to lure jammers to the stage. It worked pretty well, it turns out.

I really enjoyed that, Jon! Your group's sound has a nice cohesiveness (cohesion?) that only comes with familiarity....Dig the all the vocals, and the GT and Lux sound absolutely killer together.... Nice solid playing, bro!

Thanks, Lee! I'm the first to admit that Katie's a WAY better singer than I am--my range is about three notes and I don't have much power--basically I'm just there to add variety on vocals, which is fine with me. And yeah--you can't beat the Lux for this kind of thing--I can't get enough of it with a Lester and a good OD pedal. As for the playing--it is what it is. This is pretty early in the evening, so I'm playing it pretty straight and just trying to serve the song. If we had video of the later tunes, once folks really started dancing, you'd see me rocking out a bit more, doing more extended solos and trading licks with other players, etc., but unfortunately (or not) our little video cam ran out of gas after about the first hour. It was a tough gig in some ways--we ended up playing about 2-1/2 hours straight without a break. But it paid well, and may pave the way for other, bigger stuff down the road.

Great Playing and great tone. I like the tone of the GS 124 so much that I ran out and got one to go with my Z- Lux. I find that I have to keep the contour between 1:00 and 3:00 as it is a bit on the bassy side tone wise, but a really great pedal!

I tend to keep the contour right around noon or 1:00, depending on the room. At 3:00 it's pretty easy to get those pinch harmonics, which is always fun.
