Looking at pickup on of these guys. I currently have a Stang Ray and a RX Junior, both of which I love. I’m not a country player really, I actually play Les Pauls and PRS Singlecuts with pretty hefty amounts of drive. Never would’ve thought two amps designed for Brad Paisley would be my favorites. The DB4 caught my interest because it’s another Brad/Z design, but it sounds like it’s super thick.
The Z28 sounds pretty interesting to me too with it’s EF86 front end.
So, what do you dudes think? For reference I’ll be looking at heads and the cab I’ll use is a Z Best with a G12H30 and Greenback. I also use some dirt boxes and fuzz. King of Tone Timmy JHS Moonshine mojo Hand Crosstown fuzz

The Z28 is an amp I miss dearly, however, someone will need to pry my DB4 from my cold, dead hands.
It is a thick amp, and because of that I never use the rotary tone knob past 2 these days. Both take pedals extremely well. The Z28 has brown deluxe DNA in it and snarls when you turn it up, the DB4 is more British through and through and will have similarities to what you already have in the stable.
If you want something tonally different get the Z28. If you want refinements on your current lineup, you can't go wrong with the DB4. I'm a rock player, and I can do every gig I need with the DB4 and a King of Tone.

I find the DB4 is very versatile with the tone knob. Works well with either single coils or hum buckers as a result of the tone knob. Several amps in one box. I think you can get the Z-28 in the DB but not the DB in the Z-28 if that makes sense.

I’m currently in the market for a z28 Head. The problem is they’ve been discontinued and I can’t seem to find a newer model in black.
