I'm trying to diagnose a tube problem with my Ghia. All the others check out okay, but the rectifier tube looks like it may have a problem.
Question: can I try a different rec tube just to test it and see if that's my trouble? I just don't have a spare 5Y3 lying around. But I do have a GZ34 on hand. Would this work temporarily? thank you / tom

Yes, all of DR Z's designs can use any of the available 5 pin rectifiers including the 5AR4(GZ34). You can do this to test, but you will likely want another 5Y3 for the Ghia. Why do you suspect the rectifier?

The tube in the amp now looks frosted on top. After the amp warms up for a few minutes, I get a buzzing interference sound. I took a fall in my house a few months ago, and landed on the rectifier side of the amp pretty hard. Not a damaging blow, but a pretty good bonk!

Yeah, the tubes toast. Get you another 5y3 asap. I would go NOS as they are inexpensive and easy to find.
