Anybody using one of these? Or any comments you might have, on a better blackface sounding speaker? I'm looking to get a little more blackface tone from my Jaz 20/40.
Thanks / tom

I understand the GA-SC64 is very similar to the DR's Z12, which is an EXCELLENT blackface driver. Not sure what came with the JAZ, but the Z-Lux ships with the Z12 and I would not consider replacing it.

My preference would be WGS G12C/G12A (the alnico version is a probably my favorite American voiced speaker), than the SC64, than the Z12.
The Z12 is a fine speaker, but the G12 and the SC64 handle gain better, so I guess it depends on your application. If you're using OD pedals, I would definitely go WGS. Clean, they're all pretty much equal.
One thing I'd be weary of, I blew an SC64 with the Therapy. I'd hesitate putting it in the JAZ.

Thanks / tom I have a couple of those speaker in 16 Ohm and I really like them for the Blackface tone. I have been using mine for a year and I like them quite well. I also have the WGS Alnico in 8 Ohm that is sitting around. Ray, I have one of each speaker if you decide you want to buy one. Here is a link to a video of one of my Princeton's in a combo with the SC64. My colleague Adam Block is the player. BTW, I doubt that you drive you amps like Frank, so I wouldn't worry about an explosion.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your time. I'm still researching a replacement, but this helps a lot. It's a head w/cab configuration, I forgot to mention. thanks again!

2 clarifications from comments.....
Who said the Z12 and the Allesandro were alike? Don't doubt it, just have never heard that.
How does the Allesandro handle gain better than the Z12? Again, not doubting, I've just never heard that either. Please elaborate.
Those are the 2 speakers I'm thinking about for my Z28 1x12 combo. Thx
