Hi all, I've had my EMS for a little while now and have been really enjoying this amp a lot.
When I first got it I was totally enamored with getting as much gain as possible. It was a blast.
Now that I have settled in I have the gain dialed back a bit, just a bit, and have been really impressed with the clarity I get from this amp. Still has plenty of distortion going but you can really hear what you are playing. It has a great Marshall growl to it too! Love that.
As with other Z amps, the ability to clean up the gain with guitar volume continues to amaze me.
My son came in my room the other day with his guitar tuned to C. A twist of the treble and presence controls and it sounded awesome. I must say the drop tunings are fun to play with.
If you haven't bought one, I highly recommend it. It way more versatile than I could have imagined.
Great amp Doc!
Thanks, Todd

Todd, just curious which of the 3 modes you find yourself using the most.

I wish Doc would make this with an EL84 power section, 20W or so. Bet it would sing with an Alnico Blue.

I'm getting awfully Jonsey for one of these...

Todd, just curious which of the 3 modes you find yourself using the most. Not sure what you mean by modes?? I typically use solid state rectifier, hi/low switch in the high position and the sensitivity switch is up.

I guess I meant which generation. So more the tweaked jcm800 tones?

I guess I meant which generation. So more the tweaked jcm800 tones? I also like the cleaner side with a bit of grit. Still solid state on the rectifier but with gain rolled back a bit and less guitar volume.
