Hi all, Looking for a good mid gain rock speaker for remedy with a 1x12 cab. Tried the g12 creamback and didn't love it. THanks! Open back or closed? The Remedy is one of those amps that doesn't sound so great in the practice room. BUT with the cream back on stage....it unbelievable! Have you played it live yet with the band?

Hi all, Looking for a good mid gain rock speaker for remedy with a 1x12 cab. Tried the g12 creamback and didn't love it. THanks! Can you verify the creamback was the M model...and not the H? There's a BIG difference between the two speakers. If it WAS the M...and you didn't like it...then the only other suggestion would be the V30. But a V30/Remedy combination...it seemed rather heavy metal to me. Of course, that could be the tone you're looking for. A gold could be good too.

I believe it was the H. How do they differ?

I believe it was the H. How do they differ? The H is a high powered version of the G12H30 speaker. The M version is a high powered version of the greenback. As I've said before in other threads, everyone hears things differently, but I think the H (creamback or regular) is an AWFUL speaker with the Remedy. It's the worst speaker I've ever tried with the Remedy. The H has big firm lows, crispy highs, but recessed mids. The M creamback doesn't have near the bass, doesn't have the crispy highs.....but most significantly: It has a LOT more mids. And the creamback M speaker to me, is a great match for the Remedy. There are many Remedy owners on the forum that have gravitated to some kind of greenback type speaker. (greenbacks, greenback clones or the creamback M) There was a new guy here on the forum just a few weeks ago. He had two G12H30's in a 2x12 with the Remedy...and he found a deal on 2 creamback M's. He switched out the speakers and LOVED it. He said it was exactly what he was looking for. Here's the thread. It started out as a tube replacement thread, but moved on to speakers. ztalk.proboards.com/thread/78825/tone-starting-suck-replacement-order

Yes, I can confirm that the G12H Anniversary was really bass-heavy and had nice, articulate highs, but it was difficult to punch through the mix in a live situation without stepping all over the bass player. Now, with the G12M Creambacks, I have the mids all to myself, and I'm clearly audible amongst the band. OP, what are you looking for, and in what context do you play (living room? bars? stadiums?) Also, what didn't you like about the G12H-75 creamback? I found that the speaker replacement won't change your tone as much as it shapes your EQ. If you like the base tone but wish there were more mids/highs/lows/whatever, then a speaker replacement will do the trick. On the other hand, if you don't like the tone or feel you're getting, a speaker replacement might not fix the problem.

I got my Creamback in a couple weeks ago and it just keeps getting better and better each day. I can’t say enough good things about the remedy and a Creamback.

Gotta be the Creamback (M). Loved that speaker when I had a remedy. Like the gold as well but the Creamback was totally it.

Might want to try the alnico cream. I have one in a 1/12 mesa boogie wide body cab. Matched up with a Marshall 2061X. I had a gold with the remedy and it also sounded great. The alnico cream is like a mixture of the blue and the gold. With the best qualities of both speakers in it. It’s real warm and articulate sounds great clean and overdriven . And sounds really good even at lower levels. I had the creamback m-65 version with the remedy and I really liked it as well. Also had it with my Marshall 2061x and it was good but this alnico cream is on another level it’s the best sounding speaker I have come across in a 1/12 cab.
