I’m in the process of redoing my board* and it wasn’t ready to go for practice this week. So I went old school and threw 2 individual pedals in my bag and hooked them up sans board and power supply (gasp!). I was playing my Tele through a KoT and a Behringer Reverb (GASP!) straight into the Therapy.
To me, the Therapy is about as perfect as an amp can get. The 2 volume knobs are really all I need to get good tone at a reasonable volume and then just adjust the TMB for whatever guitar I’m playing (dial down the B for humbuckers; dial up the B for tele). It takes pedals wonderfully and sounds just as good with some dirt as it does clean/edge of breakup. And it even makes the Behringer reverb sound decent – ha! That’s some high praise!
A major love fest with this thing still in full swing after having had it a few years. Thanks, Doc!
*After about two years of putting it off, I’ve finally made the decision to get a loop switcher instead of running my signal through each pedal. Even with a buffer and good quality patch cables I was noticing a little tone loss. When I get done making a zillion patch cables, I’ll have everything out of signal unless I absolutely need it. The extra plus is that I’ll also have to never reach to the back of the board to tap dance!

Some of my best playing days come when the pedal board stays home. Therapy really knows how to EQ.

I can easily agree with all of the above. I always hear about lots of players loving the break up on this amp but I’ve been using it exclusively for cleans for the last 6 months or so. I just love the sparkle I get withough losing full body and low end.
The Therapy can be clean without sounding too metallic and that’s something I’ve looked for in an amp for a long time. Now that I think about it, I don’t think any of the Z amps have that piercing metallic edge. I understand that you need some high end brightness to cut through the band but Z amps can easily cut without hurting my ears. So nice!!!
I’m sure that my next Therapy posting will be me raving about the gloriously smooth break up tones. I’m not very consistent 😁

Then I started using it clean, sometimes with chorus or univibe, and loved it. I put some KT77s in it and just adore the cleans now - that’s how I’m using it all the time now. Just rich!

It makes me really happy to see people discovering the magic of KT77'S with the Therapy. I'd love to see Doc design an amp around these tubes...

I've got a pair of KT77s in shipment right now, should be here tomorrow. I tried everything else, and keep coming back to the 6L6s.

I’ve searched for specific tone differences between the KT77 and 6L6 in the Therapy. It’s really hard to find threads in reference to only these tubes. I like to keep an open mind and wouldn’t be opposed to trying something different. Do the KT77s have more sparkle and chime?

I mentioned to Dave (premiumplus) that the KT77s perhaps were a bit brighter, but really it just feels more “gutsy” with more headroom. I’ve read the KT77 described as providing “more” of the 6L6, and I’d say that’s my perception having played these for about 5 months or so now.
I run mine through a slant 2x12 with a V30 and an H30 (the Zbest speaker mix) so that affects things.

There are multiple Z amps I hope to own,but my financial future being predictable,I think the Therapy will be the only amp I own for the rest of my life. WHICH I AM 100% OK WITH. I love this amp,and I can't think of any style of music I can't play with it,loud or not so loud.(although it's usually loud) Soooo happy with myself for choosing this amp,and obviously with Doc and the crew for designing/making it.
