I’m sure that was a used amp that had been tinkered with before it reached this so called “tech”. The tech should be sued for slander. What a disgrace!

Wow... you're not kidding. The guy says some pretty harsh things about the Maz 38, and Dr. Z designs in general.

Gotta love the online, know it all, hack. I guess all of the hundreds of thousand of us Z players have been had... I guess the many professional touring musicians out there on the road with Z amps can expect failure due to "another critical design error"... All poop. Like Russian fake news.

Well right from the beginning he misses the fan cord plug, states it hard wired and cuts the cord , good eye there bud. Nit picks things he FEELS are incorrect and adjusts the values slightly and says that's better cause that's what I like. Guys I have had critics like this for years from basement hacks, that can't except others success and their lack of success. I just wonder what the owner thought when he got it back, I'm sure fresh tubes and little general maintenance ( i.e. tightening jacks ) helped, just basic repairman stuff for the most part. Design critics , well that is his opinion .

Yes, I was a bit shocked by this being a long time Z guy, and Lyle at Psionic is someone I have known for a long time. Was very surprised by the post and all which is why I shared. I was going to respond on FB but I don't know enough on the tech side and was afraid I would make things worse there
Which is usually the case on facebook. better to be quiet and walk away. :/

I really love what the guys says here:
"Yeah, they copy, but they don't know what they are doing. Vox made a mistake, too, but they got away with it because they were using Mullards..."
Vox made a mistake too! But they also made one of the best sounding amps ever.

Like I always tell people, if you feel you can do it better, be my guest...

That dude seems like a complete prick. I understand that if you have the skills to mod amps and make them sound "better", then by all means, go for it. But trashing someone's design and being rude about it shows a real lack of character. For me, my Maz 38 is staying stock, because it friggin ROCKS!!
