Just curious, what kind of music is the majority of Z plus owners using their amp for? I play mostly blues and classic rock. I want an amp that can get just a bit gritty, that I can throw pedals in front of to push it more into overdrive for the classic rock stuff. I've already owned two different Maz 18's, as well as a Monza. I'm tempted to get another Maz, but I want to try something else. The zlux and the cure are not on my radar. Great amps, but I tried them out and they're not what I'm after.

The Zplus does blues and classic rock nicely. At any reasonable volume. If your more into blues/rock I'd say go with a creamback. It's a very flexible amp.

I had my eye on a brand new one on Reverb with a creamback, but it has a brakelite in it. I've got attenuators out the wazoo, so I don't need the brakelite.

Blues, classic rock, blues-rock and rock 'n' roll oldies (50s and 60s) are where I live. Z-Plus works for all.

Country! (New, Old, and some Pop Country), with some Southern Rock, a little Classic Rock, and Contemporary Christian/ Christian Rock in the mix.
The Z-Plus is very versatile and a unique Dr. Z amp. It has that MAZ front end but it's more like a high powered Fender Champ or like a Princeton .....only much better!
Good luck with your search!
Ron.

I'll echo what Ron says above. If you like the front end of the Maz, you should like the Z-Plus. The front end for me responds like my Maz 18R. My settings are really close on both amps. My Maz is a 210 and my Z-Plus is a 112. I think that accounts for the slightly different settings. It's the back end where they differ. You get more beef from the Z-Plus 6V6s and more high end sparkle, less upper mids and chime, with similar front end settings, though you can get some of that back by speaker choice (a Blue). We play classic (we prefer vintage) rock and blues from around 1962 on up.
