I sold my Fulltone TTE a few years ago. It was nice for sure. Sounded great. But if you've ever used one they are clunky to operate and take up a lot of space. I've been through a bunch of delays over the years and settled on a Wampler Faux echo. It keeps its place and the others end up in the closet, or on Reverb. I've been in interested in the T Rex Replicator for a while and following its progress. However I've been paying more attention to the Replicator Junior. The size is right, features just what I need and nothing I don't. From the videos it sounds great. I really like how the knobs push in to avoid accidental adjustments. I love the concept, a vintage style actual tape delay married with modern controls and tap tempo. Inbound.

I've been trying to find the tape size specification. Do you know if it's 1/4" wide tape or the smaller old cassette size tape, (1/8", I think)? Either way, it looks to be a nicely done unit. Anxious to hear your report on it when it arrives. I've always wanted to score an old Echoplex.

I do know they upgraded the tape cartridge and the one coming my way is the new style. I attached a little video showing it in the full size version. The Junior I ordered has just one playback head. The Trex units operate mechanically different that the tube tape style units. Rather than actually physically moving the play head closer or farther away from the record head (like a vintage style tube tape) this unit adjusts the repeat time with a motor speed control to vary the tape speed.

Pretty disappointed. It's going back. Bummer, I really wanted to like it. While the unit seems very well made, the tape cartridge itself is pretty cheaply made. It's really noisy. It makes a loud clicking / rattling noise when running. I expected some mechanical noise. This was too much. Also because of the the way the motor starts up when you turn the effect on, (rather than always running like a TTE) the first few repeats are real funky sounding. Probably because the tape needs to catch up. Oh well, it seems my old original edition Wampler Faux is back lol

I was intersted in the T-Rex replicator as well. I decided on the Fulltone SSTE and have to say I'm very pleased. The SSTE is smaller then the TTE and Mike at Fulltone pushed me to go with the SSTE. I'm not gigging at the moment but sure like to have it around. If I don't decide to use the SSTE... I also picked up the Analogman ARDX20 delay. I like that delay pedal for the separate dual delay times. Between the SSTE and the ARDX20 on the fly I'm happy in the delay department.

If you don't already have it get the AMAZEO box that goes with the ARDX20. It allows you to have tap tempo, divisions, and "tape" warble. The ADRX20 is BY FAR my favorite delay.

I'm aware of the AMAZEO box but only watched a few YouTube clips of it. I see from AM's website that he is selling them again now. I'm definitely interested by it though. The ADRX20 delay is a little pricey compared to some other delays. However, I figured with the dual delay settings it was worth it. Recently coming from using the MXR carbon copy IMHO... I find the ADRX20 a little more to my liking. Is it easy to use and learn the AMAZEO box zpilot? I have read a few mixed reviews that it was a little confusing to use. However, from what I've heard from clips it really produces some Amazing delay effects.

If I can figure it out anyone can. When I use it regularly I remember the tweaks but sometimes when I haven't used it for awhile I have to refer back to the instruction sheet. Aren't most effects like that? If you play with it often you won't have that problem. It's not any more complicated than the Strymon stuff.
