Plug it into the guitar input, or into the loop in of another amp? I wouldn't consider doing it without asking, but does anyone know what would happen? I know that the pedal supposedly does something about bypassing the tone controls or whatever, tho I suppose that takes place inside the amp, not the pedal, but who knows? I love my new amp. I can't find a better speaker than the Eminence and I'm a Celestion fan pretty much 100%.

The drive isn’t in the pedal. It bypasses the tone controls in your amp, increasing gain. Plugging it in elsewhere won’t do much

^^^ what mudman said.
Prior to adding the variable boost feature -- via the knob on the foot switch -- all Z foot switches supplied to activate the eq bypass were plain on-off switches. I'm sure if you took one of the variable ones and just put the knob all the way up it would function the same way.

I think it is simply a souped up on / off switch.

It's just like the picture above, but with a stomp switch wired in series with the pot. The 'boost' happens within the amp, and what's happening is that the tone stack is gradually removed from the signal path, removing the insertion loss from the tone stack (all passive tone stacks result in some signal loss) and making the amp have more gain, and wider, fatter frequency response. How much it affects the sound depends on the setting of the tone stack on the amp T,M,B knobs and the variable boost pot on the footswitch.
