Anyone who's played/owned both, which do you prefer, and why? this may be a stupid question, but what's with all the different color timmy pedal's?

I think some of the different coloured Timmy pedals have different chips in them... I could be wrong. Some are just different colour. I had two Timmy pedals..one of the stock purple and a sea foam green...the gree;one was brighter in tone than the purple. I kinda miss those pedals!

Tim has a boost/loop setting?...reading about it its not your usual signal boost either (someone hear knows more about it)...to many knobs for me...
The greens and most (newer) come with the jrc 4559 chip...some people had 4558d claimed smoother...some switch to lm1458(bright/scooped mid/lowend)...burr brown...some shops wanted there custom color for identity of shop as I understand...I have a couple of the (original/bowling ball color) paul calls it...
I recently had one from another shop which had a bad switch...loud pop...and I mean loud...I talked to paul about this and he said hes moving towards a different switch and the volume seems louder quicker and he did say something about reversing the treb/bass dialing in future...

My Tim went on the board in 2011 and hasn't come off since. It's a dark purple one, whatever that means. It has a loop that I've never used. The boost with it's gain and tone control is certainly worth having but I could live without it and go for the Timmy if space was an issue. If I could only have one dirt pedal, the Timmy would be it.

I have both. I use the Timmy more because of the smaller footprint. I have another board that has the Tim on it and I use the boost to push a solo or have over the top OD. I guess the effects loop is a nice idea but I've never used it. I love them both and they will be the last pedals I let go when my electric days start to wind down.

Surf green Timmy here. It is usually on my board. Great pedal for sure. Had a TIM, didn't need the loop/boost. I guess I should have kept it.

I have a dark purple Timmy pedal, got it around 2007. I read recently on the gear page that it's a V1 and (of course) it's now highly desirable (ha ha).
It's probably the one dirt pedal that will never, ever leave my pedalboard. My favorite low gainer ever, and it's so flexible with how you can voice it. Great, great pedal.

Purple Timmy here. I use it pretty much like a clean boost with just a bit of hair. Sometimes I use a compressor for that role, but the Timmy is just so darned easy to EQ playing live. So it can be a clean blues or jazz sound, etc...

I have a purple one too. I use it for boost/grit at blues jams where I have to use their amps.
