Hello Folks, I recently had the chance to audition 2 pair of SE Ribbon mics. The SE Voodoo VR1s and the SE Voodoo VR2s. The VR2s have a little larger body as they have "active electronics" and produce a higher output. Both mics share the same ribbon and sound very similar. They really sounded like they cost twice as much as their actual street price of $399 and $499 each (VR1, VR2) I used the active ones on overheads and acoustic guitar and I used the passive ones on electric guitars. I really liked them a lot. Nice build quality. Shipped in wooded boxes and each came with a regular mount and a shock mount. You can get them just about anywhere.

Thanks Roscoe, I have been looking for a ribbon mike for the shop demo recordings, sooo much nicer sounding then a typical 57. The price has stopped me in past , I'll try one of these.

I haven't heard their microphones yet but I have heard a couple of the Warm Audio EQ's and Compressors which I found to be pretty nice. They also sort of left room in some of their models for people to put in even higher quality parts if they wanted to upgrade them. They use high quality mostly American parts and have them assembled in the far east. Those microphones Warm Audio sells for $900 and $500 are based on Neumann designs that go for $9k and $4K.
