After enjoying Premiumplus(Dave)'s recent thread on matching a Texas Heat with a G12H30, I thought I'd post on another 2x12 speaker combination I recently tried that has worked out well. I had originally tacked this on the end of my old "Z-28 head has arrived" thread but as I still have not found a previous thread on this speaker combination, I thought I'd add a new thread to the Cabs & Speakers section for future reference and to allow others who may try this combination down the road to provide their thoughts. I got the C Rex on CL and it was basically brand new. I have had the Gold for about 12 years so it is well broken in. I wasn't sure this was going to be a good pairing at first but after about 20 hours of playing time, the C Rex has loosened up and the two are matching up well together. I first tried the Gold with a broken in RW&B and really liked that combination as well. I play exclusively clean (jazz, surf, non-OD blues) with no pedals and the Gold by itself just wasn't what I was looking for with the Z-28. The C-Rex filled out the bottom end and took a bit of the edge off the chime of the Gold while still letting the character of the Gold come through. Besides the Z-28 head, I have now run this cab with my other 4 ohm amps, a 61 Brown Super, a 62 Blonde Bassman, and a 66 Pro Reverb. It sounds best to me with the Z-28 and the Bassman.

I had this combination in a cab for awhile. Pretty cool. Especially when pushed.
