The 30th anniversary is remastered and James Burton is cooking on the Tele. I hated the first one you couldn't hear James hardly at all, plus an all star line up backing up Roy.

Will have to snag the remastered 30th....thanks for the heads-up....
My Dad and Roy were close friends. In the mid-late 1950's, my dad worked at a small TV station in west Texas (Monahans). Being the "new kid," he was quickly "given" responsibility for programming on the weekends, as the national networks back then provided nothing for Sat and Sun.
He started a Saturday afternoon show that brought young, local talent of all types and put 'em "live on the air." Roy (and his band) were one of the first anxious volunteers and soon became regulars.
As a 5 year old, I remember going over to Roy's Mom's house in Wink Texas only because I slammed (and entrapped) my thumb in our car's back door. My thumbnail still has the permanent defect (a crack now) to prove it....LOL
Tho my Dad was about 10 years older than Roy, they remained friends for a long time. I remember how it saddened my Dad when Roy died....my Dad died less than a year later....

Great story, Lee. In my youth I was never a big Roy O fan, and only appreciated what a great talent he was much later. Great songs and a great voice.
