The Blue is coming into its own. A good bit of the brittle sound has faded. Nice. Might have to gig this guy on Saturday!
One very minor glitch: the jewel light bulb crapped out after a couple hours. The good folks at Humbucker are sending another.

40 hours for a Celestion I always figure. I bought a used one with very little hours on it and it felt stiff. Love those Blues!

The good folks at Humbucker are sending another. It has been awhile since a had to break in a speaker. I forgot how tight and stiff a new Blue can be. Mine is broke in nicely now. I'm loving the Z-plus! Such a great amp. It sits nicely between my Maz 18 and Stingray. Hope you gig goes well Mike. Let us know how the Plus does.

The blue in my Z Plus definitely started sounding better to me after about 20 hours. Recall having the same experience with my Maz18 ten years ago. Loving this amp!

Nice. Hey Mike, how would you say the gain is compated to the JAZ/Zlux platform? I'm hoping fairly similar. Can't wait to find out for my own

Still getting to know the amp, so don't take that as more than an initial impression. I'm pretty sure -- will decide this afternoon -- that I'll use the amp for tonight's gig. I'll probably set it as a clean pedal platform, but we'll see.

I went with the Z-Plus for the gig, and it delivered. It's hard for me to compare its live sound with the Cure, which I've used several times at the same venue. The reason was a good one: there was a pretty large, energetic crowd, so the band was very focused on keeping the energy up, swapping songs around as needed, fielding requests, etc.
I used full-power, lo input, Vol around 2 and Master a bit shy of noon, I think. (Amp is still packed up.) The amp is very dynamic. It cuts through when needed, but when it's time to step back down into the rhythm mix, it's easy to do with just guitar controls and pick attack. Importantly, I never felt like it didn't have enough gas in the tank to keep up with a fairly loud drummer.
I'm going to use it again next week at a new place, so stay tuned.
