I just ordered a celestion blue 15 watt. planning on putting it in my dr z 1x12 convertible cabinet, but also wondering how it would sound if I paired it with a celestion alnico cream 90 watt and put them both together in my avatar 2x12 open back cabinet? anybody run the blue and cream together? Plan on using the blue with my MAZ JR and Z28

I would think the Cream Alnico would be hot in the Z28, and I know it sounds great with the Maz Jr. It has a touch of darkness that works well with single coils, at least for me.

Funny, today I was wondering what a single 112 with an Alnico Cream would be like for all my Z heads. I was wondering if the 90 watter would be a little stiff in the 18 watt heads....guess not. Hmmm.......

The Alnico Cream is one of the few pieces of gear I've purchased over the years that actually lives up to the marketing hype. When I had my 15w Monarch, the WGS G12A and C Gold would get that weird bass resonance thing resulting from the speaker not seeing enough power. The 90w Cream didn't have that issue. When Celestion says 1w to 90w, they really mean it, and I'm not a Celestion fan boy, by any means. Unfortunately, after I've gotten the chance to thoroughly beat the brakes off of a Creamback M, I've realized they sound eerily similar to the Alnico Cream, at half the price. Maybe the dogs can tell the difference, but after 10 songs and a few whiskey drinks, I can't...

Most likely will end up with the Creamback M65 or Alnico Cream, as I also want to use the studio cab as a 1x12 for the Therapy and DB4.

I installed the celestion blue in my dr z 1x12 convertible cabinet today. It sounds great with the maz Jr and the z28 both once you dial them in. I think for being a 15 watt speaker it will handle both the maz and z28. I also was using my dr z brake lite stand alone on 2 and 3 clicks and it was still pretty loud.
