For those of you that use a reverb pedal with your Monza, what pedal do you recommend? I love reverb. I've never been able to hang on to an amp that doesn't have reverb. But, I'm working out a deal on a Monza, and I need to figure out a reverb situation. Anytime I've used a reverb pedal, I've only used it in an effects loop. I've tried a bunch of different pedals, and the only pedals I have really liked were the boss 63 fender reverb, and the eh holy grail. I've tried a couple others, including the TC electronics Hall of Fame reverb, which I didn't like. I'm leaning heavily towards a holy grail nano, since the boss fender reverb pedal is no longer in production, and they are going for a stupid amount of money in the used market. Thoughts? I'm looking forward to this amp. Been wanting something with gain that will go next to my Tone King Imperial.

I think that a reverb in front of a cranked Monza is going to be kind of hard to control. By cranked up, I'm talking about gain, not volume. You'd probably want something subtle, since a gained up Monza is a beast, and it'll magnify any reverb or echo/delay /time base effects that you use. I never found a need for reverb with my Monza; when I play it it's almost always just guitar/cable/amp.

I'm not planning on cranking the gain on the amp...mainly looking for a low-medium level of overdrive, with pedals in front of it as needed. I'm looking at the JHS Spring Tank pedal. It appears to have two reverb settings, so I can dial one in for when it's just the guitar and amp, and another when I'm using an overdrive pedal.

The Strymon Flint has worked well with all my amps including the MONZA. But as Dave said, the MONZA is an amp that needs no verb unless you're playing it very conservatively. I've played gigs with it (the MONZA) "gained down" and the Flint worked very well with it....

+1 for the Flint, especially for edge of breakup, even beyond . The Zverb sounds really good too but slightly warms things up in a way that the flint doesn’t. Whichever route moderate settings are important to keep things from washing out but reverb and delays can be used very musically going into the front of a dirty amps. How you set the MIX wet/dry is really important. Though sometimes all bets are off once you change guitar volume. I had a v1 holy grail and sold it, even all the way down it could be too wet.
FWIW- Neil Young always ran his Fender Reverb Unit in front of his amps.
Rock On
PS- harmonic trem on Flint sounds awesome with dirt, especially in stereo with a cleaner amp.

I used a reverb and delay in front of that very Monza and as long as you keep them really low they will work fine even at High gain. Just have to dial them way back
