I wonder if the Dr Z shop will be willing to mod the MAZ 8 to have a wetter reverb like the Z-plus. Hopefully it will just consist of some different values for a few components and not a circuit change. If that is all there is to it then it could easily be done by a tech savvy owner.

They offer it for the maz 18. Supposed to include a full overhaul of the master volume too. Less background noise to boot.

Z web site has $199 mod for pre-2014 MAZ that includes reverb, voicing and master volume updates.

I've seen that. I just didn't know if that would be the same reverb that the Z-Plus has, which I understand is more like a Fender reverb. I have a request into Z repair to find out.

Well my answer (from Z repairs) is that the Z-Plus reverb functions like the current MAZ 8. That would include my amp since it is barely a year old. I was hoping that it's reverb could be made to sound more like the one in my JAZ. How sweet that would be. I guess my Flint isn't going anywhere soon.

Thank you for checking in this. I bought a new Maz 8 last year and the reverb is much better than the 2013 I had. It is fine for my purposes.

Actually it works for me the way it is also. I set it for a mild reverb just to add some "space". Then I kick in my Flint when I need "surf city". The minimalist in me was just thinking "what if".

I find on my 18 that using a slap back delay really fills put the reverb the amp already has. They compliment each other nicely.

I know it’s an old thread, but I emailed Don today, and he said roughly $250+shipping to update my 2011 Maz 8 to current voicing/specs. Not sure if that includes the variable boost pedal or not...

It sure does a great job updating the Master Volume, and the amp opens up wonderfully at low volumes. It's well worth it.
