I’ve narrowed it down to the Beyerdynamic Tg D71c and the Shure Beta 91a. I need to stay under $300 so buying two mics is out of the question of at all possible.
Has anybody used these mics for applications other than kick drums? If not those two than any suggestions? Thanks again guys!

What's the situation? Is this for recording or for sound re-inforcement?

What's the situation? Is this for recording or for sound re-inforcement? Just sound re-inforcement as I describe the term. It’s for my 15X20 music room and basically it’s so my father in law can jam with us and get to levels heard over a drummer. Thanks!

For that purpose the best mic I have found is a PZM type either on the back of the piano or inside the bottom front lid. Either way the mic would have to be on the surface that wasn't pointed at the drummer.
