Erika the Red is a live wire amp. I picked it up from Ryan (shorty) about 4 months ago. It is a non MV model. I can harness the amp with the Fryette Power Station, but that is an impractical option with my line up. I have the amp up for sale but out of something like 600 viewers between TGP and Reverb there isn't anyone interested in this amp. I don't get it, I think it's bad arse. Ryan told me I shouldn't do the MV mod on this amp. In order for this amp to stay in the game, I'm thinking it may need the MV upgrade. The amp feels too rigid at low volume, I really like it with the Power Station and the two volumes tuned up to about 11:30. Any recommendations: Do I keep the amp listed as original stock Non MV for $950 Or do I invest in it and have the MV installed. That looks to be a $400 endeavor after shipping. In the end I would have a cool Red Remedy that might be more playable for me and probably more marketable. What do you think?

If you invest $400 in the MV I doubt you will ever recoup anything close to that. So if you primarily just want to sell the amp (quickly) I think you should reduce the price, even though that may hurt.
Another option would be to trade it for another amp or guitar you might be interested in. I had my MAZ Jr for sale recently at a very good price but no one seemed interested. I finally accepted an offer to trade for another amp which I had more use for. I took about a $100 hit in value but, like I said, I'm getting more use out of it so I am happy.
I understand that a trade may not be an option if you are wanting cash to fund another purchase. It's just a tough decision how much to reduce the price of your amp before the MV mod becomes the right option. Even with the mod there is no guaranty what the amp would sell for. Again, tough decision.

Sell. Or try a MV to see if it fits your expectations.

I have tried both the MV and non MV Remedy. I have to say that the MV Remedy is really good. The MV allows you to get your tone at a friendlier volume. You won't need the Fryette anymore. In addition, you get an EQ bypass mod which is helpful for solos, etc. I believe the Dr Z crew gives your amp a once over, health check as well as part of the price so if you plan to keep the amp a while, it will be nice to know everything is in spec. If you ever wanted to defeat the master volume, you can turn it all the way up and it will be out of the circuit. The price may sound steep but it is just a little more than the price of an overdrive pedal that you can sell since you won't need it anymore. The MV on the Remedy really works. No I don't work for Dr Z. I just had the chance to try it both ways for a while.

I have not tried the non-MV but I used to own a MV model and it was GREAT! Recently I have been thinking about picking up another.

I have thought a few times about getting the mod. Especially since the master on the Z-Lux is so good. I just don’t like the idea of shipping it.

My Remedy has the MV. What is nice about the MV is that if you turn it all the way up, you take the MV out of the circuit and it is like your playing a Non MV Remedy. I don't know if there is much of a tone difference in all that but...
If you love the Remedy but it is just too loud for you, then the MV is worth it. If you want to sell it, the upgrade isn't going to make much of a difference. They are not moving on Reverb for more that $1200 with the MV.

I had a heck of a time moving my remedy a few months back. Not sure why because when i bought the amp initially it was super hard to find and really highly sought after. I ended up trading for some cash and a couple of strymon pedals, which sold in a day on reverb.
To me, strymon trades are as good as cash.
Good luck. My amp was non mv. Instead of spending be 400 (unless you want to see if it will work for you) i would recommend just dropping your price.

It's interesting. On the flip side, I waited a bit over a year watching reverb/eBay/local listings, hoping a Remedy would pop up in my range, they were dipping for a bit but I just scored a first year nonMV for a killer price. I've really wanted this amp for a long time, so I suppose it's a buyers market now, particular Z models tend to dip n out of fashion so with patience I think most can get their hands on one. This is my fourth Z and I'm not too hip to MV circuits (tho the one on my RXjr is incredible). For me, and my gigging purposes, I don't really need the MV. I see myself maybe getting it down the road since I love the amps tone so much I may want it for smaller gigs (that I have dedicated amps for currently). Good luck

I'll also add, as everyone knows, Z's really need to be in the wild. Mine live at my studio, otherwise it feels like I have a wild animal or a hot rod motorcycle in my living room. They're serious amps, that's why I like the mini- will still slice over a drummer but it feels great and gives you that tone when you need it at home

I’ve had a heck of a time moving any z amps. My z28 sold for very low and i couldn’t even get an offer on my ezg. Pretty wild.

I think it depends on how well known the amp is for an area. Having a dealer around here, z’s sell quck

I sent my Remedy head in for the mod earlier this year and totally love it! Before the mod the amp only got used at outdoor concerts never indoors, too loud for my use. Now I use it at rehearsals in fact it's my main go-to amp for all occasions and I have 2 other very usable Dr Z amps, Monza w/ M/V and Prescription Jr w/ M/V. My Stingray doesn't get much love but not selling it anytime soon.

I think it's generally been slow for at least the last year for selling boutique amps. My JAZ took forever to sell. I got an OK price for it from someone who already had a lot of Zs. My 65 Amps Ventura sat on Reverb for months. I finally let if go cheap as I wasn't using it at all.
